Description

Identical scope, different coloured LED, and one specification that genuinely changes with it. The Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 Red MRAD is model CR624-C-2900023: a 1-6×24 on a 30mm tube with the MRAD segmented circle in the first focal plane, lit red instead of green. Optically and mechanically it is the same instrument as the green version. The battery life is not.

Red or Green, and the Runtime Difference

Trijicon quotes 68 hours for the red Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 Red MRAD and 198 hours for the same scope with a green LED. That is close to a threefold difference and it is not a misprint. Green LEDs are more efficient at the wavelengths the human eye is most sensitive to, so a green emitter reaches a given apparent brightness on less current. If you leave illumination switched on between range trips, the red version will empty a CR2032 roughly three times faster.

So why buy red at all. Red preserves dark adaptation better than green, which matters if you are shooting at night and want your eyes to recover between shots. Red also sits differently against foliage and against green painted steel, where a green reticle can blend. And some shooters simply see red aiming points more crisply, particularly those with certain forms of colour vision deficiency. None of that is marketing: pick the colour your eye actually prefers and accept the runtime that comes with it.

Everything else is common to both. The reticle is a segmented circle reticle in the first focal plane, so every subtension stays correct at every magnification rather than only at full power. Ten brightness settings let you drive the circle hard enough at 1x to work like a red dot in daylight, and the broken ring is large enough to catch the eye instantly at low power without cluttering the view at six.

Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 Red MRAD Specifications

Turrets move a tenth of a MRAD per click with 29.1 MRAD of total travel, matching the reticle units. That pairing matters more than people credit: a MIL reticle with MOA turrets turns every correction into mental arithmetic at exactly the moment you do not want to be doing any. The Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 Red MRAD keeps reticle and turret in the same language throughout.

Eye relief runs 3.5 to 3.9 inches across the magnification range, exit pupil falls from 0.47 inches at 1x to 0.16 inches at 6x, and field of view is 113.4 feet at 100 yards wide open down to 18.8 feet at full power. The scope weighs 18.3 ounces in 6061 aircraft grade aluminium, finished matte black.

Honest Notes on the Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 Red MRAD

Sixty eight hours is the number to plan around, and it is short. That is under three days of continuous running. Competing low power variables in this bracket routinely quote thousands of hours, and many include a motion sensor that sleeps the illumination when the rifle is still and wakes it when you pick it up. The Trijicon Credo 1-6×24 Red MRAD has no such feature, so the discipline is simple and non negotiable: switch it off when the rifle goes down, and keep a spare CR2032 taped inside the grip or in the stock.

This is a battery-dependent Trijicon, which is worth saying clearly given what the brand is known for. The ACOGs and AccuPoints run on fibre optics and tritium and never need power at all. The Credo does not work that way. If the cell dies the reticle remains as a black etched segmented circle and is perfectly usable in daylight, but the bright daylight-visible centre goes with the battery.

First focal plane at 1x is the standing trade on any scope of this type. The reticle is necessarily thin at low power, and however well the segmented circle is drawn a true red dot is still faster inside fifty yards. If the overwhelming majority of your shooting is close, a dot with a magnifier behind it may serve you better than any 1-6x.

Twenty nine MRAD of total travel is appropriate for a carbine working inside six hundred yards and tight beyond that. On a flat base roughly half of it is usable above zero, so if you intend to dial rather than hold at distance, plan on a canted base from the start rather than discovering the ceiling on the range.
