Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot Proven 20,000 Hour Solar Sight

Description

The Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot is the carry sized Solar Charging Sight: no removable battery at all, a 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA circle, and 1.06 ounces on a K footprint slide. It charges itself from light and holds a 20,000 hour reserve. Part SCS-CARRY-GR.

There Is No Battery To Change

This is the part that takes a moment to absorb. The Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot has no battery tray, no coin cell, and no compartment to open. Power comes from light, stored in an internal rechargeable cell with a 20,000 hour reserve for when there is none.

Twenty thousand hours on the Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot is over two years of continuous running with no light at all, and the sight is topping the reserve back up every time it sees a window, a car park or a lit room. For a carry gun that is the whole maintenance schedule gone. No annual reminder, no tracking which optic was changed when, no cell to order. The failure mode that kills more pistol optics than breakage simply does not exist here.

Automatic Brightness, With An Override

Because there is no battery to conserve, the Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot runs its brightness automatically by default rather than asking you to pick a setting and live with it. The sensor reads the light and the reticle follows.

Automatic brightness is the right default for a carry gun like the Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot, where you do not get to choose the lighting and you will not have time to adjust. But automatic systems can be fooled, and Holosun knows it: snow, a white wall, a headlight aimed at you, or a bright doorway with a dark room behind it will all pull a sensor the wrong way. The override locks the reticle at setting nine, full brightness, when you want to take that decision back.

Carry Sized, At One Ounce

The Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot weighs 1.06 ounces on a body measuring 1.6 by 1 by 0.95 inches, mounting directly to a K footprint slide with no adapter plate.

On a micro compact that weight matters more than the number suggests. A small pistol has less mass to absorb recoil and a shorter slide to do it with, so anything added high above the bore changes how the gun tracks between shots. At just over an ounce this is about as little as a sight with a solar panel and a circle dot reticle can weigh.

A Ring In A Carry Window

The Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot window is 0.9 by 0.63 inches and the received wisdom says a 32 MOA circle wants more room than that. The received wisdom has it backwards.

The hardest part of running a small optic is finding the dot, because a small window is unforgiving of a presentation that is not perfect. A ring that nearly fills the glass is impossible to miss and pulls your eye straight to the centre where the dot is waiting. The Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot uses the circle to solve the problem the small window creates, then lets you switch to the bare 2 MOA dot once your draw is grooved. Both come from one emitter, so nothing needs re-zeroing.

Green At 540 Nanometres

The Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot emits at 540nm, almost exactly where human daylight vision peaks, so a green reticle reads brighter to the eye than a red one producing the same actual light. On a sight that generates its own power from ambient light, an efficient reticle colour is not a styling decision, it is part of the engineering.

In use the green dot on the Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot holds contrast against brush, dirt, tan walls and timber, the warm backgrounds where a red reticle quietly disappears. Against grass and green painted steel red would serve you better, and we will say so if that is what you shoot.

Two Things To Know Before You Order

First, the footprint. The Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot mounts directly to a K footprint slide with no plate. If your pistol is not cut for K or RMSc, you want a different sight or the correct adapter, and we will check that with you.

Second, adjustments on the Holosun SCS Carry Green Dot move 1.5 MOA per click across 30 MOA of travel each way, which is coarser and shorter than the full size 407 and 507 optics. On a true slide cut that is ample. If a previous optic gave you zeroing trouble on that gun, mention it before you order rather than after.
