Description
The Weaver Picatinny Rings 1 Inch Medium (Weaver item 99688) are six-hole tactical scope rings built specifically for Picatinny rails. They hold a one-inch riflescope at medium height with a .280 inch saddle, fit objectives up to about 40mm, and wear a matte black finish. Weaver lists them as made in the U.S.A.

Weaver Picatinny Rings 1 Inch Medium Overview
Weaver makes its six-hole skeleton rings in two base styles. The standard version uses a narrower cross-bolt sized for Weaver-style slots. This Picatinny version uses a cross-bolt sized for the wider MIL-STD-1913 slot, so it fills the slot fully and locks in with less fore-and-aft play. If your rifle wears a true Picatinny rail, this is the better match.
Six screws per cap spread clamping force across a wide band of the tube, and the skeleton cut-outs keep the weight in check.
Why a Proper Picatinny Fit Matters
A ring that rattles in its slot can shift under recoil and drag your zero with it. Picatinny slots are wider than Weaver slots, so a Weaver-sized key leaves a small gap that relies entirely on clamp tension. The correctly sized key in these rings bears directly against the slot wall. That is especially useful on magnum rifles, on heavy scopes, and on rifles that ride in trucks, safes and gun cases where knocks are common.

Scope Fit
Medium height and a .280 inch saddle suit most one-inch scopes with 40mm or smaller objectives on standard barrels. Larger objectives or heavy barrels may need a high ring. Check clearance between the objective bell and the barrel, and between the ocular housing and the bolt handle, before final torque.
Installation Tips
Push each ring forward in its slot before tightening the base nut so the key sits against the front wall. Snug the six cap screws lightly, level the reticle, then torque in a crisscross pattern while keeping the gap even on both sides. Use a torque driver and stay within the scope maker limit for the tube.

Where These Rings Make Sense
These rings fit bolt rifles with aftermarket Picatinny bases, modern sporting rifles and many rimfire rifles with full-length rails. On a flat-top AR, a one-inch scope in medium rings may sit low for an upright head position, so some shooters prefer a cantilever mount there. On a bolt rifle with a one-piece Picatinny base, these medium rings are an excellent fit.
Care and Maintenance
Rings need very little care once installed. Check the cap and base screws after the first range session and again before each hunting season, since new installations can settle slightly. Wipe the matte finish with a lightly oiled cloth after wet or dusty hunts to keep it looking new. If you ever remove the scope, mark the ring positions on the rail with a paint pen so the rings go back into the same slots, which helps you return close to your previous zero.
Honest Limitations
These rings are sized for Picatinny; they will work on many Weaver-style bases but the wider key may not seat in narrow slots, so check your base first. They fit one-inch tubes only and are not quick-detach.
