Walther PDP Pro SD Compact Gray 9mm – Superb 4.6 in. Threaded 10+1

Description

The Walther PDP Pro SD Compact Gray 9mm is Walther’s suppressor-ready, optics-ready take on its popular PDP compact. This version (Walther 2871947) pairs a 4.6 inch threaded barrel with a tungsten gray frame and ships with three 10 round magazines.

Walther PDP Pro SD Compact Gray 9mm Overview

Walther built the PDP, or Performance Duty Pistol, around a few things shooters notice right away. The Dynamic Performance Trigger has a short, crisp break and a quick reset that many people find easier to shoot well than other striker guns. Aggressive Performance Duty texture on the grip locks the pistol into your hand even with wet or gloved hands. The slide carries an optics ready cut, so mounting a red dot is simple with the right plate, and deep front and rear serrations make manipulating the slide easy.

1 inches long, the Compact frame is easy to carry yet full enough for confident shooting.

Pro SD Features

The SD in the name means suppressor ready. The 4.6 inch barrel extends past the slide and is threaded 1/2×28, the standard 9mm pitch for suppressors and compensators. Any suppressor is an NFA item that requires an approved ATF Form 4 and must be legal in your state. Standard-height white dot sights are adjustable; with a suppressor attached you may need taller sights or a red dot to see over the can.

Capacity and Restrictions

This model ships with three 10 round magazines, which makes it a good fit for states with magazine limits. The longer threaded barrel and features mean Lipsey’s lists it as restricted in CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NY and WA, so confirm it is legal where you live before ordering.

Practice and Training

Regular practice builds confidence and safe handling. Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and work back as your groups tighten. Dry fire with snap caps at home to improve your trigger control between range trips.

Choosing Ammunition

Try several brands and bullet weights to see what feeds reliably and groups best in your handgun. Use quality full metal jacket loads for practice and proven hollow points for defense, and confirm reliable function with your defensive load before carrying it.

Care and Maintenance

Clean the barrel, slide or cylinder and frame after shooting, apply a light coat of quality lubricant to moving parts, and store the handgun unloaded in a locked case or safe away from children.

Holsters and Accessories

The threaded barrel is longer than a standard PDP Compact, so make sure your holster is open-ended or made for the Pro SD. Holster and light options for the PDP family are plentiful, and Walther-specific optic plates are widely available.

Safe Storage

Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.

Recommended Accessories

A quality holster, spare magazines, eye and ear protection and a cleaning kit round out any handgun purchase. For defensive use, add a weapon light and practice drawing safely from your holster with an unloaded gun before carrying.
