Description
The Volquartsen Black Mamba 22 LR Black Gold is a 22 LR semi-automatic target pistol with a 4.5 inch barrel, a threaded muzzle with a single-port compensator and a black and gold finish. It ships with a 10 round magazine and a Volquartsen Competition Bolt and Accurizing Kit installed.
Volquartsen Black Mamba 22 LR Black Gold Overview
Volquartsen builds the Black Mamba in Carroll, Iowa, on the proven Ruger MK IV 22/45 polymer frame, then upgrades almost everything that affects accuracy and feel. 5 inch stainless steel barrel sits inside a lightweight aluminum shroud with integral Picatinny rails on the top and bottom, so you can mount a red dot up top and a light or other accessory underneath. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 and wears a single-port compensator that helps keep the dot on target between shots. 2 pounds.
The result is a rimfire pistol that is light, fast and remarkably accurate, with a black and gold look that stands out on the line.
Built for Rimfire Competition
The Black Mamba is a favorite for Steel Challenge, rimfire bullseye and plate matches. The light trigger, low recoil and compensated muzzle make it easy to run fast and stay accurate, and the top rail is ready for a competition red dot.
Upgrades That Matter
The Competition Bolt and Accurizing Kit are among the most popular Volquartsen upgrades for Ruger MK IV pistols. Here they come installed from the factory, along with the shrouded stainless barrel and comp, so you get a match-ready pistol without building one yourself.
Ammunition and Care
Rimfire pistols run best on quality, consistent ammunition. Try a few brands of standard and high velocity 22 LR to find what your Mamba likes best, clean the chamber and bolt face regularly and keep the magazines free of lint and fouling.
Practice and Training
Regular practice builds confidence and safe handling. Start at close range, focus on sight alignment and a smooth trigger press, and work back as your groups tighten. Dry fire with snap caps at home to improve your trigger control between range trips.
Choosing Ammunition
Try several brands and bullet weights to see what feeds reliably and groups best in your handgun. Use quality full metal jacket loads for practice and proven hollow points for defense, and confirm reliable function with your defensive load before carrying it.
Care and Maintenance
Clean the barrel, slide or cylinder and frame after shooting, apply a light coat of quality lubricant to moving parts, and store the handgun unloaded in a locked case or safe away from children.
Safe Storage
Store handguns unloaded in a locked safe, lockbox or with a cable lock, and keep ammunition separate when children are in the home. Quick access safes keep a defensive handgun secure but available. Teach everyone in the household basic firearm safety rules.
Recommended Accessories
A quality holster, spare magazines, eye and ear protection and a cleaning kit round out any handgun purchase. For defensive use, add a weapon light and practice drawing safely from your holster with an unloaded gun before carrying.
