Description

The TriStar APOC Pro is the optics-ready, suppressor-ready version of TriStar’s striker-fired 9mm. It leaves the factory with a threaded barrel, an RMS-pattern optic cut, fiber optic sights front and rear, and two 15-round magazines. TriStar puts these through a 5,000-round endurance test before they ship, which is a meaningful claim at this price.

Optics and Threads From the Factory

RMS-pattern optic cut in the slide, with an RMR adapter plate supplied so both common footprints are covered.

Threaded barrel fitted from the factory, so a compensator or other muzzle device goes straight on.

Fiber optic front and rear sights, which are far quicker to pick up than plain black irons.

The TriStar APOC Pro ships with the accessories most shooters add later rather than leaving them as upgrades.

Capacity, Grip and What Ships

Two 15-round magazines supplied, giving 15+1 capacity.

Magwell adapter included, which speeds up reloads and fills the gap at the base of the grip.

Picatinny rail on the frame for a light or laser.

Striker-fired action with a polymer frame.

Tested to 5,000 rounds before release.

Buying a pistol that is already threaded and already cut for an optic saves more money than it looks like on paper. A threaded barrel bought separately runs well over a hundred dollars, an optic cut is a hundred or more at a machine shop plus shipping and downtime, and fiber optic sights are another fifty. Having all three from the factory, along with the adapter plate, is most of the argument for this model over the base APOC.

Why it is worth considering

  • Threaded barrel and optic cut both included, not upgrades.
  • RMR adapter plate supplied alongside the RMS cut.
  • Two 15-round magazines rather than one.
  • Fiber optic sights front and rear.
  • Accessory rail for a weapon light.

Who it suits

Shooters building toward a suppressed or optic-equipped pistol without paying custom-shop prices are the natural buyers. The TriStar APOC Pro also makes sense as a first duty-size 9mm, since nothing has to be sent out for machining afterward. Note that MAG5 Firearms does not sell NFA items, so a suppressor would need to be sourced separately and cleared through ATF approval before it could be mounted on the threads.

Setting It Up

The RMS cut takes a Shield RMSc-pattern optic directly, and the supplied plate opens it up to the Trijicon RMR footprint, which between them cover most red dots sold today. For practice, ordinary 115-grain full metal jacket is the sensible everyday load, with a 124-grain jacketed hollow point for defensive use. If a compensator goes onto the threads, expect heavier bullets to work it harder than light target ammunition does. All firearm orders ship to a licensed FFL dealer for transfer, and MAG5 Firearms will coordinate the paperwork with the dealer of your choice.

One practical note on threaded pistols: the thread protector should stay fitted whenever a muzzle device is not installed. Exposed threads pick up lint and dirt in a holster, and a damaged thread is an expensive repair on a barrel that is otherwise fine.

On magazines: two are supplied, which is more than most pistols in this bracket include, but a third and fourth are worth buying early. A 15-round magazine empties quickly at the range, and having four means a session runs without constant reloading at the bench.

The polymer frame keeps weight down, and the accessory rail means a weapon light mounts without an adapter. For a nightstand gun, a light and a red dot together are the configuration most people end up at, and this pistol accommodates both out of the box.
