Description

The Trijicon MGRS Machine Gun Sight is Trijicon’s Machine Gun Reflex Sight, a heavy-duty red reticle optic built for belt-fed weapons such as the M2 and M240, packaged here with a 3x magnifier. It is a specialty optic for collectors, ranges and owners of semi-automatic belt-fed platforms who want the same sight used by professional gunners.

Trijicon MGRS Machine Gun Sight Overview

Trijicon part MGRS-D-2300005 projects a red 35 MOA segmented circle with a 3 MOA center dot. The housing is forged 7075-T6 aluminum with a matte black finish and an integrated mount, and the sight is rated for submersion to 6.6 feet. It runs on a single CR123 battery and offers 2 night vision settings and 5 day settings, including one super-bright setting, with off positions built into the dial. Elevation and azimuth each offer 100 MOA of total travel.

Built for Belt-Fed Guns

The MGRS was designed to improve first-round hits with crew-served machine guns, cutting the time and ammunition gunners spend walking rounds onto a target. The segmented circle frames targets at distance while the dot gives a precise aim point. Interchangeable ranging dials are calibrated for M2 .50 caliber and M240 7.62mm ballistics, so the shooter can dial a known distance and hold center.

With 3x Magnifier

This package adds a 3x magnifier, letting the shooter identify targets and refine aim at longer ranges, then return to 1x for wide-area engagement. Magnification does not change zero; it simply enlarges the reticle and target together. The combination is how many professional users run the MGRS on vehicle and tripod-mounted guns.

Who Actually Needs This

Most civilian shooters do not own a select-fire machine gun, and nothing about this sight changes federal or state law on those firearms. The MGRS makes sense for owners of semi-automatic belt-fed replicas, legally registered transferable machine guns, training ranges and serious collectors of military optics. For an AR-15 or hunting rifle, an MRO or ACOG is a far better fit and costs much less.

Controls and Power

A single rotary dial handles brightness and power, with night vision settings for use under NVGs and a super-bright day setting for desert sun. One CR123 battery powers the sight. Carry spares and replace the battery on a schedule, since crew-served guns are often stored for long periods between uses.

Honest Trade-Offs

This is a large, expensive, purpose-built optic, and its ranging dials are calibrated for M2 and M240 ballistics specifically. It is not designed for typical sporting rifles, and the integrated mount is intended for the rails on those weapons systems. If you need it, nothing else from Trijicon does the job quite the same; if you do not, look at the MRO or ACOG lines.

Before You Buy

An optic is not a firearm and ships without an FFL transfer. This sight does not make any restricted firearm legal to own; machine guns remain subject to federal NFA rules and state law. Confirm rail compatibility with your weapon before ordering.
