Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange Front Solid Set

Description

Same sight, different ring. The Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange set is Trijicon GL613-C-600846, the slimline HD XR with an orange outline around the front tritium lamp instead of a yellow one. Geometry, fitment, lamps and price are identical to the yellow version. The only question worth asking is which colour your eye finds faster.

Picking Orange: the Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange Set

Orange separates hard from the backgrounds most people shoot against. Green foliage, brown earth, grey concrete, blue sky, white paper: orange sits outside all of them on the colour wheel, and the eye locks onto it without conscious effort. That is why it dominates in competition and why it is the more popular of the two HD XR front colours. Where it struggles is against orange, so painted steel targets and autumn woodland are the two situations where yellow does better.

The XR part is the front post width. Trijicon narrowed it relative to the standard HD sight so that more of the target stays visible on either side of the post. On a slimline Glock that matters for a different reason than on a duty gun: the sight radius is short, roughly three inches, so a coarse front sight makes precision at any distance harder than it needs to be. A finer post gives you back some of what the short slide takes away.

The rear on the Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange set is blacked out with a tritium lamp behind a plain black outline. In daylight it stays quiet so the orange front is the only bright thing in the picture. After dark both lamps come up green and you have a conventional three dot arrangement to work with.

Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange Specifications

Fitment for the Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange set is the slimline Glock family: 42, 43, 43X, 43E and 48. MOS models are excluded because a milled slide needs optic height sights rather than standard ones. Trijicon retail is 192 dollars. The lamp construction is the same across the whole Trijicon night sight range, so you are paying for the front sight profile and the colour, not for brighter tritium.

Honest Notes on the Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange Set

Be honest about how you use the pistol. A Glock 43 or 48 spends most of its life in a holster and gets shot at conversational distance. A narrower front post is more precise but a fraction slower to find under stress, and the difference goes the wrong way for a defensive gun used at arm length. If that is your entire use case, the standard Bright and Tough set costs considerably less and will serve you just as well.

Where the Trijicon HD XR Sights Glock 43 Orange set earns its money is on a slimline Glock that gets shot properly. If you take a 43X to the range regularly, shoot it at fifteen and twenty five yards, or run it in a carry class, the finer post and the orange ring make a real difference in what you can see and correct.

Fitting is the fiddliest job in the Glock line. The slimline rear dovetail is tight and the front sight nut is tiny and easy to strip, which is why Trijicon recommends professional installation. Have a gunsmith do it, then confirm zero on paper because front sight height differs from the factory part. And plan on the tritium being a twelve year consumable rather than a permanent fixture, which is precisely why the warranty runs twelve years.
