Description
The Tisas Tank Commander 45 ACP Parkerized is a commander-length 1911A1 in the original 45 ACP chambering, finished in military-style parkerizing with GI sights, a round hammer and A1 service thumb safety.

Tisas Tank Commander 45 ACP Parkerized Overview
Tisas factory model 10100114 uses a forged steel frame and slide, a 4.25-inch barrel and Series 70 internals. Overall length is 7.92 inches and weight is about 2.27 lb. Black plastic grips come installed with a spare brown set in the box. Note: our store title lists 7 rounds, but Tisas and Lipsey’s specify 8+1 capacity with two 8-round magazines for this UPC. A nickel Tank Commander 45 is listed separately in our store; this one is the parkerized model.
The Original Cartridge
The 1911 was designed around 45 ACP, and this pistol stays true to that. The heavy 230-grain bullet moves at subsonic speed with a firm push rather than a sharp snap. Ammunition costs more than 9mm and capacity is lower, but the cartridge has a century of service behind it and remains popular for defense and single-stack shooting.

WWII Styling in a Handier Size
Stories of tank crews cutting down their pistols inspired the name, but the commander-length slide is simply practical: it balances quickly and fits a belt holster more comfortably than a full government model. The parkerized finish, small sights and plain controls give it the feel of an issue sidearm.
Living with Parkerizing
The matte phosphate coating holds oil, resists rust and does not glare. It wears gracefully at the edges with holster use. Keep it lightly oiled and dry, and avoid harsh solvents that strip the oil the finish relies on for protection.

Sights, Safety and Trigger
GI-style sights are small, which makes quick sight pickup harder than with modern sights, and the A1 thumb safety is short. Series 70 internals deliver a crisp trigger without a firing pin block. These features suit a historical-style range gun more than a modern carry pistol; for carry, Tisas’ Carry series offers bigger sights and ambidextrous safeties.
Magazines and Reliability
1911 reliability depends heavily on magazines. Use the factory 8-round magazines or proven 7- and 8-round GI-pattern magazines, and expect a break-in of a few hundred rounds of ball ammunition. Hollow points with wide mouths may need testing, since GI-style feed ramps were designed for round-nose ball.
State Laws and Ownership
Some states restrict handgun sales through rosters, and a few have capacity or carry permit rules. The 8-round magazines are compliant almost everywhere. Check your state and local rules before ordering.
