Description
The Tisas 1911 Desperado Chrome Commander is a polished chrome, 4.25-inch 1911 dressed in Turkish walnut, built to look like a classic sidearm from the golden age of the 1911. It ships ready for both 9mm Luger and 38 Super, with a barrel and magazine for each.
Tisas 1911 Desperado Chrome Commander Overview
This listing carries the current Tisas USA UPC 711500175647 for factory model 10100112. The same pistol was earlier sold under an SDS Imports UPC, which we list separately as the 1911A1 Desperado. Specs are identical: forged steel frame and slide, Series 70 internals, enhanced GI-style fixed sights, standard thumb safety, 7.75-inch overall length, roughly 2.1 lb. empty weight and 9+1 capacity in either caliber. If you are choosing between the two listings, pick on price and availability; the gun in the box is the same model.
A Commander-Size 1911
The 4.25-inch commander length was introduced by Colt in 1950 to give officers a lighter, handier 1911. It balances quickly, fits a belt holster more comfortably than a government model and still offers a usable sight radius. In 9mm the Desperado is soft-shooting and easy to control; in 38 Super it has a touch more snap and a distinctive report.
The Appeal of Bright Chrome
Mirror chrome on steel has been a favorite finish for presentation pistols for decades. It resists moisture better than bluing, but it shows fingerprints and fine scratches, and reflective finishes are a poor choice for discreet carry. Clean with a non-abrasive solvent, wipe down after handling and store it in the supplied case or a padded rug.
Two Barrels, Two Magazines
Converting between calibers is a simple field-strip barrel swap with the matching magazine. Mark or store the spare barrel carefully so it does not get mixed up. Most owners practice with affordable 9mm and save 38 Super, which costs more and can be hard to find, for special occasions or reloaded ammunition. Never fire 38 ACP, an older cartridge, in a 38 Super chamber.
Trigger and Safety
Series 70 internals give a clean, light single-action pull with no firing pin block. That makes the thumb safety and grip safety especially important, and it means the Desperado should be handled with care if dropped. Expect a short break-in of a few hundred rounds and keep the rails lightly lubricated.
Ownership Notes
Tisas 1911s are known for strong value, but resale prices trail American brands and some holster makers do not list Tisas by name. Any non-railed commander 1911 holster will fit, and suede-lined leather protects the finish best. As a handsome range gun, a gift or the start of a 1911 collection, the Desperado delivers a lot of character for the money.
State Laws and Ownership
Handgun rosters in a few states restrict sales by exact model and finish, so this two-caliber chrome 1911 may not be eligible there. The included 9-round magazines meet most capacity limits. Check your state and local rules before ordering.
