Description
The Taylors Ranch Hand 45 Colt Revolver (Taylor’s and Company 550835) is an Uberti single action built on the Cattleman New Model forged frame. It has a 4.75 inch round blued barrel, a color case hardened frame, a polished brass backstrap and trigger guard, and a smooth walnut Navy-size grip.

Taylors Ranch Hand 45 Colt Revolver Overview
The Ranch Hand is Taylor’s more affordable take on the Cattleman. It keeps the forged case hardened frame and blued six-shot half-fluted cylinder, but swaps the steel grip frame for brass, which gives the classic two-tone look and keeps the price down. Taylor’s lists a 1-in-16 right-hand twist, a fixed blade front with a frame notch rear, an overall length of 10.35 inches and a weight of about 2.45 pounds. The firing pin on the hammer is retractable.
Short Barrel Handling
The 4.75 inch barrel is the classic gunfighter length. It clears a holster quickly, balances back toward the hand and carries comfortably on a belt for ranch chores or trail rides. The shorter sight radius makes precise shots at distance a little harder than with a 5.5 or 7.5 inch barrel.

Brass Grip Frame
Brass is softer than steel and polishes to a bright shine. It will dent if dropped on rock and darkens with handling, so many owners keep it bright with a metal polish such as Flitz. Some prefer to let it patina for an aged look. Either way it does not rust, which suits a working gun.
Use Standard 45 Colt
Feed this revolver standard pressure or cowboy action 45 Colt. Hot hunting loads labeled +P or for large-frame revolvers only are not for Colt-pattern single actions and can damage the cylinder. Lead round nose loads around 200 to 250 grains shoot well and are easy on the gun.

Loading and Carry
Like any traditional single action, you load one chamber at a time through the gate and cock the hammer for each shot. The usual safe carry is five rounds with the hammer down on an empty chamber unless the manual says otherwise. Practice the loading routine before carrying it in the field.
Value and Support
Uberti builds for several importers, and Taylor’s supports its guns with parts and a tuning service. The Ranch Hand gives you the look of a far pricier engraved or brass-framed revolver for much less, though collectors value it below original Colts and premium custom guns.
State Laws and Ownership
Pennsylvania has no handgun roster, and a six-shot revolver is not affected by magazine limits. Some states and cities require a purchase permit, registration or a waiting period, and California requires roster listing for dealer sales. Check your local rules and confirm the transfer with your receiving FFL before ordering.

Before You Buy
Federal law requires handgun buyers to be at least 21 years old to purchase from a dealer, and the revolver transfers at your FFL with a Form 4473 and background check. A holster cut for a 4.75 inch single action is a smart add-on.
