Description
The Taylors Old Randall 357 Magnum Revolver (Taylor’s and Company 550430) is an Uberti 1873 single action with a 4.75 inch barrel, matte blued steel, a matte brass backstrap and trigger guard, a case hardened hammer and a matte walnut Navy-size grip. It holds six rounds of 357 Magnum and also fires 38 Special.

Taylors Old Randall 357 Magnum Revolver Overview
Taylor’s named the Old Randall for the Hatfield and McCoy feud along the Kentucky and West Virginia border, and its subdued finish is meant to look like a working gun of that era rather than a polished show piece. The half-fluted cylinder, round barrel and fixed sights follow the Colt pattern. Taylor’s lists a weight of 2.45 pounds, an overall length of 10.35 inches, a 1-in-18.75 twist and a retractable firing pin on the hammer.
The Navy-Size Grip
A Navy-size grip is slightly smaller than the standard 1873 grip, which suits average and smaller hands and rolls nicely in recoil with 38 Special. With full 357 loads, the smaller grip lets the gun roll up more, so many owners shoot 38 Special for practice and save magnums for the field.

Single Action Manual of Arms
The 1873 design loads and unloads one chamber at a time through a loading gate with the hammer at half cock. Each shot requires cocking the hammer. Read the manual carefully on carrying; traditional practice with any Colt-pattern revolver is to keep the hammer down on an empty chamber unless the maker states otherwise.
357 Versus 38 Special
The 357 Magnum chamber accepts 38 Special, which is cheaper and much milder. Never fire 357 Magnum in a revolver chambered only for 38 Special. Lead round-nose 38 Special loads are popular for cowboy action matches, and the 1-in-18.75 twist handles cast bullets well.

Matte Finish and Brass
Matte blue hides holster wear and reduces glare, and the brass backstrap and trigger guard will develop a patina with handling. Keep a light coat of oil on the steel, especially if you carry it outdoors.
Fixed Sights Reality
Like the original, the rear sight is a notch in the frame. Point of impact varies with load weight, so test several loads and pick the one that hits where you look. A gunsmith can file the front blade if needed.
State Laws and Ownership
Pennsylvania has no handgun roster, and single action revolvers are rarely restricted. Some states, including California and Massachusetts, apply roster rules to revolvers as well, and some cities require permits to purchase. Check your state and local rules and confirm with your receiving FFL before ordering.
