Description
The Taurus Raging Hunter 454 Stainless is a revolver chambered in 454 Casull with a 8.37-inch barrel.
Taurus Raging Hunter 454 Stainless Overview
The Taurus Raging Hunter is a large-frame revolver built for handgun hunting. It has a ported, rail-topped barrel with an aluminum-shrouded steel liner that keeps weight down while the ports cut muzzle rise. Revolvers remain popular because they are simple to operate and very forgiving. There is no slide to rack and no magazine to seat, and a misfire is cleared by simply pulling the trigger again. The trade-off is capacity and reload speed, so a few speedloaders or moon clips are worth adding.
Practice the double action trigger pull regularly, because a smooth, steady press is the key to accuracy with any wheelgun.
Design and Features
The integrated Picatinny rail makes it easy to mount a red dot or scope, and the cushioned grip absorbs heavy recoil. The adjustable rear sight and fixed front give a clear sight picture.
Handling and Carry
The Raging Hunter is a hunting revolver for deer, hogs and black bear.
Trigger and Controls
The transfer bar safety keeps the hammer off the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled all the way through, and the Taurus Security System lets you lock the action with a key at the rear of the hammer.
Sights and Optics
The factory sights give a clear, quick sight picture, and an optic-ready slide (where fitted) lets you add a red dot whenever you are ready.
The 454 Casull Cartridge
The 454 Casull offers a good balance of power, accuracy, and recoil for its intended use.
Setup and Accessories
Pick a holster made for your revolver’s frame size and barrel length, and add speedloaders or speed strips so you can reload quickly.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the revolver and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
