Taurus 942 22 LR Stainless Revolver – Dependable Revolver

Description

The Taurus 942 22 LR Stainless is a revolver chambered in 22 LR with a 3-inch barrel and a 8-round cylinder.

Taurus 942 22 LR Stainless Overview

The Taurus 942 is a small-frame, eight-shot rimfire revolver that mirrors the size and feel of Taurus’ popular 856 and 605 carry revolvers. It is an affordable way to train with a carry-sized revolver, and it is a fun plinker and trail gun. Revolvers remain popular because they are simple to operate and very forgiving. There is no slide to rack and no magazine to seat, and a misfire is cleared by simply pulling the trigger again. The trade-off is capacity and reload speed, so a few speedloaders or moon clips are worth adding.

Practice the double action trigger pull regularly, because a smooth, steady press is the key to accuracy with any wheelgun.

Design and Features

The Ultralite versions use an aluminum alloy frame to keep weight down. The 942 has a serrated ramp front sight and fixed rear sight, and the rubber grip is comfortable for long range sessions.

Handling and Carry

Shooting .22 rimfire in a carry-size revolver lets you practice double action trigger control at a fraction of the cost of centerfire ammunition.

Trigger and Controls

The transfer bar safety keeps the hammer off the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled all the way through, and the Taurus Security System lets you lock the action with a key at the rear of the hammer.

Sights and Optics

The factory sights give a clear, quick sight picture, and an optic-ready slide (where fitted) lets you add a red dot whenever you are ready.

The 22 LR Cartridge

The 22 LR is the most affordable cartridge to shoot, with almost no recoil and little noise.

Setup and Accessories

Pick a holster made for your revolver’s frame size and barrel length, and add speedloaders or speed strips so you can reload quickly.

Ownership Tips

Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the revolver and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
