Tanfoglio Tactical Pro 9mm OD Green Overview
Tanfoglio designed the Tactical Pro with input from military and police instructors. It is built on the steel K frame with a steel slide, a Lothar Walther threaded bull barrel cut 1/2×28, an extended beavertail and a thumb safety. The importer lists a 4.5 inch barrel, 8.9 inch overall length and 2.85 pounds of weight; our older title said 4.9 inches, which we could not confirm. Shooting Illustrated measured 45.6 ounces.
Suppressor Ready, With Caveats
The 1/2×28 thread is the common 9mm pitch, and a thread protector comes on the muzzle. A suppressor is an NFA item: you need an approved ATF Form 4 and a tax stamp, and suppressors must be legal where you live. Raised sights for shooting over a can are not included, so plan on a red dot or taller sights.
Optics Plate System
The rear sight assembly comes off and an optic plate takes its place. That lets you run a full-size red dot without a custom slide cut. Check that the plate set matches your optic footprint before mounting, and use thread locker on plate screws.
Full-Steel Shooting Manners
Forty-five ounces of steel make 9mm recoil very soft and keep the muzzle low. The weight also makes it a poor choice for concealed carry. Think of it as a home defense, range or duty-style pistol where weight is welcome.
DA/SA Trigger
Like other Tanfoglio CZ-pattern guns, the first shot can be double action and the rest single action, and the thumb safety allows cocked and locked carry. Competition iron sights include an adjustable rear and a fiber-optic front, bright in daylight but not glowing at night.
Magazines and Finish
The flush 17-round and extended 20-round steel magazines use the large-frame Tanfoglio pattern. OD green Cerakote resists wear well, but it shows holster rub over time, and green holsters or accessories are harder to match than black.
State Laws and Ownership
Pennsylvania has no magazine capacity limit and no handgun roster, but the sale still runs through a licensed dealer with a background check. The 17 and 20-round magazines are illegal in states with 10 or 15-round limits. Several states, including California, Massachusetts and Maryland, keep handgun rosters, and imported Tanfoglio models are rarely on them. Check your state and local rules, and confirm with your receiving FFL that it can transfer this pistol, before you order. Threaded barrels are a listed feature for pistols in some states.
