Tanfoglio Force 22 TB Pistol – Reliable 22 LR Threaded Blue Slide

Description

The Tanfoglio Force 22 TB is a full-size .22 LR pistol built on the Italian maker’s Force polymer frame, with a blue slide and a threaded barrel. It handles like a duty-size Tanfoglio, which makes it a cheap way to practice for a centerfire Force or Witness.

Tanfoglio Force 22 TB Pistol Overview

Tanfoglio has built CZ-75 pattern pistols in Gardone Val Trompia for decades, and the Force 22 TB brings that grip shape and DA/SA manual of arms to rimfire. It is imported by Italian Firearms Group. The slide is finished in blue and sits on a black polymer frame; distributor data calls it a blue steel slide while Tanfoglio launch material describes an aluminum slide with blue Cerakote, so we list it as a blue slide. Distributor data lists a 4.9-inch barrel, though launch material quoted 5.5 inches, likely measured including the threaded section.

Blowback Action and Trigger

The Force 22 is a straight blowback .22 LR with a double-action/single-action trigger. The first shot can be fired double action with a long, heavy pull, and following shots break single action with a short, lighter pull. Tanfoglio describes the trigger as adjustable. That DA/SA layout matches the centerfire Force and Witness pistols, so the rimfire version trains the same transition.

Threaded Barrel

The barrel uses traditional rifling and is threaded 1/2×28, the standard rimfire pitch, so it accepts most .22 suppressors and muzzle devices without an adapter. A thread protector keeps the threads clean when nothing is mounted. Rimfire suppressors foul quickly, so plan on regular cleaning. A suppressor is an NFA item that needs an approved ATF Form 4 and a state that allows it.

Sights, Safety, and Controls

Three-dot sights give a quick sight picture, and launch material lists an adjustable rear. An ambidextrous safety suits left-handed shooters. The pistol weighs about 24.3 ounces, light for a full-size frame, which keeps it comfortable through long range sessions but also means it does not soak up muzzle flip the way a steel-frame target pistol does.

Ammunition and Reliability

Like most blowback rimfire pistols, the Force 22 prefers high-velocity 36 to 40-grain round-nose ammunition, especially during the first few hundred rounds. Subsonic and target loads may not cycle the slide reliably until the action breaks in. Rimfire ammunition varies a lot in quality, so a few hundred rounds of testing is worth it before you trust a load for competition.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Rimfire priming compound and lubricant build up fast in the chamber, extractor, and breech face, and a dirty .22 is the most common cause of failures to extract. Clean the chamber and bolt face every few hundred rounds, keep a light coat of oil on the slide rails, and inspect the recoil spring periodically. A bore snake makes quick work of the barrel between sessions, and a dedicated rimfire chamber brush helps with stubborn carbon rings.

Practical Use and Caveats

This is a training, plinking, and small-game pistol, not a self-defense handgun; rimfire ignition is less reliable than centerfire. Holster and accessory support is thin compared with the big-name rimfire pistols, and only one magazine is included, so order spares early. Resale value tends to track below American rimfire brands.

State Laws and Ownership

This pistol is not on the California roster and does not ship to several restricted states. Pennsylvania buyers complete the handgun transfer record at their dealer. Some states restrict threaded barrels on semi-automatic pistols or limit magazines. Check your state and local law before ordering.
