Description
The SureFire 123A Rechargeable Batteries (SureFire SFLFP123) are a two-pack of 3.2 volt, 450 mAh rechargeable cells in the 123A size. They let you run SureFire WeaponLights, flashlights and headlamps for training and everyday use without buying a fresh set of disposable lithium cells every time the light goes dim.
SureFire 123A Rechargeable Batteries Overview
Primary 123A lithium cells are the gold standard for duty lights, but they are expensive to burn through on the range, during low-light classes, or for nightly use around the house. SureFire built the SFLFP123 for exactly that situation. The cells are designed to be safe in SureFire illumination tools and, according to SureFire, keep roughly 80 percent of their original capacity even after hundreds of charge cycles.
This listing is for the two batteries only. A charger is required and is sold separately or as part of the SureFire kit.
Capacity and Runtime
Be clear on the trade-off before you switch. At 450 mAh, these rechargeable cells hold noticeably less energy than SureFire primary lithium 123A batteries, so expect shorter runtime per charge. Their 3.2 volt rating is also slightly higher than a fresh 3 volt primary cell. For training, practice and household use the savings add up quickly. For a duty or defensive light that may sit for months and then must work instantly, many users keep primary lithium cells installed and use the rechargeables for practice.
Compatibility
SureFire designed these cells for its own lights, including weapon-mounted lights and handheld models that run on 123A batteries. Using them in other brands of lights, cameras, or electronic sights is at your own discretion; some devices are sensitive to the higher voltage of lithium iron phosphate cells. When in doubt, check the device manual before installing them in anything other than a SureFire light.
Charging and Care
Charge the cells only with a charger designed for SureFire SFLFP123 batteries. Do not mix rechargeable and primary cells in the same light, and replace both cells at the same time in two-cell lights. Store spare cells in a battery case rather than loose in a pocket or bag, where keys and coins can short the terminals.
Who Benefits Most
Shooters who run low-light drills, instructors who keep a pile of training lights going, and homeowners who use a SureFire handheld every night get the most from these cells. Each recharge replaces a pair of disposable cells, so the batteries pay for themselves quickly with regular use.
Cost Over Time
A single pair of disposable 123A cells may last only a handful of training sessions in a high-output light. Over a year of weekly practice, the cost of disposables adds up fast. Rechargeable cells shift that spending to a one-time purchase, which is why many shooters keep one set charging while the other set is in the light, and save premium primary cells for serious use.
Honest Limitations
Lower capacity means shorter runtime than primary lithium cells, and these cells slowly self-discharge in storage, so top them off before you depend on them. A charger is not included in this pack.
