Description
The Springfield Prodigy Comp 9mm 10 Round is a pistol chambered in 9mm with a 4.25-inch barrel and a 10+1 capacity. This low-capacity version ships with two 10-round magazines for states with capacity limits.
Springfield Prodigy Comp 9mm 10 Round Overview
The Prodigy Comp takes the classic 1911 platform and rebuilds it around a double-stack magazine. A polymer grip module mounts to a forged steel frame, and the 4.25-inch slide and barrel are integrally compensated to reduce muzzle rise. This low-capacity version (SKU PH9117AOSLC-COMP) is set up for restricted states and ships with two 10-round magazines and a soft handgun case.
Design and Features
The 4.25-inch bull barrel is forged stainless steel, match grade, with a 1:16 twist. The forged carbon steel slide and frame wear black Cerakote, and a Picatinny rail on the dust cover accepts lights and lasers. A single compensator port on top of the slide and barrel redirects gas upward for flatter shooting.
Handling and Carry
At 32.5 ounces and 7.8 inches long, the Prodigy Comp is a full-featured pistol that still works for duty-style carry with a good belt and holster. The double-stack grip gives a secure hold, and the compensator keeps the dot or front sight on target between shots.
Trigger and Controls
The single-action 1911 trigger is crisp and short, one of the best features of the design. An ambidextrous thumb safety and grip safety follow the 1911 layout, and the two-piece full-length guide rod keeps cycling smooth.
Sights and Optics
The slide uses AOS (Agency Optic System) plates for direct red dot mounting, with a tritium front sight placed behind the compensator for an uninterrupted sight picture and a black serrated rear.
The 9mm Cartridge
The 9mm Luger is the most popular handgun cartridge in the world. It offers manageable recoil, good capacity, and a huge selection of affordable practice and defensive ammunition.
Setup and Accessories
A good holster is the most important accessory for any carry pistol. Choose one that covers the trigger guard completely and holds the gun securely, then add a sturdy gun belt, spare magazines, and a weapon light if the frame has a rail. Practice drawing and reloading with an unloaded gun until it feels natural.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the pistol and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
State Laws
Magazine capacity limits, feature restrictions, and transfer rules vary by state and locality. Check your local laws before ordering, and ask your receiving dealer if you are unsure whether this configuration is legal where you live.
