Description
The Springfield 2020 Boundary 7mm PRC is a rifle chambered in 7mm PRC with a 24-inch barrel and a 3+1 capacity. It pairs a carbon fiber AG Sportsman stock in Rogue camo with a Tactical Gray Cerakote stainless action, built for hunters who cover a lot of ground.
Springfield 2020 Boundary 7mm PRC Overview
The Model 2020 Boundary is Springfield Armory’s lightweight backcountry hunting rifle. Where the Waypoint is built for long shots from a rest, the Boundary is shaped for carrying: a slim carbon fiber stock, a carbon fiber barrel, and a Tactical Gray Cerakote stainless receiver that shrugs off rain and snow. Springfield backs Model 2020 rifles with a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee, which is a meaningful promise in a rifle this light.
Design and Features
The AG Sportsman stock is built by AG Composites from carbon fiber, so it is stiff and stable without the weight of a laminate or synthetic stock. It has M-LOK slots for a bipod or sling mount, flush-cup sling attachment points, and a soft recoil pad. The stainless receiver is pillar-bedded and comes with a Picatinny rail installed, so you can mount a scope without hunting down bases.
Handling in the Field
Light rifles kick harder than heavy ones, and a 7mm PRC in a rifle this size is no exception, so plan on a good recoil pad, a quality scope with generous eye relief, and practice from field positions. The payoff is a rifle you will actually want to carry up a mountain. The detachable box magazine sits flush and makes unloading at the truck quick and safe.
Action and Trigger
The Model 2020 action uses a two-lug bolt with a 90-degree throw, a plunger ejector, and a fluted bolt body. It runs a TriggerTech Field trigger that breaks crisply with no creep and is adjustable for pull weight, and a two-position safety sits right where your thumb expects it.
Sights and Optics
There are no iron sights; the factory Picatinny rail is ready for the scope of your choice. A lightweight 3-15x or 4-16x scope in low or medium rings keeps the package balanced for carry while still giving you enough magnification for long shots across a canyon.
The 7mm PRC Cartridge
The 7mm PRC is a modern long-action magnum built around long, heavy-for-caliber bullets, delivering flat trajectories and serious energy for elk-size game at distance.
Setup and Accessories
Start with a quality optic and solid rings or a mount, then add a sling for carrying and a bipod or shooting bag for steady rests. Test a few loads for accuracy and settle on the one your rifle likes best. A hard case protects your investment on the way to the range or the field.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the rifle and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the bolt face and chamber. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
State Laws
Magazine capacity limits, feature restrictions, and transfer rules vary by state and locality. Check your local laws before ordering, and ask your receiving dealer if you are unsure whether this configuration is legal where you live.
