Description

The Smith Wesson M2.0 10mm Backpacker is a limited-edition M&P M2.0 in 10mm Auto built for the backcountry, finished in flat dark earth Cerakote with a slide laser engraved with bear claw marks across the top and left side.
Smith Wesson M2.0 10mm Backpacker A Trail Gun With a Theme
The Backpacker edition takes the M&P 10mm and dresses it for the woods. The frame and slide both wear flat dark earth Cerakote, and the slide carries custom laser engraving of claw marks running over the top and down the left side. It is decorative, and it also happens to break up the outline of the slide.
The cartridge is the serious part. 10mm Auto is the most powerful round that fits a conventional service autoloader, producing far more energy than 9mm or 45 ACP while remaining in a pistol you can shoot with two hands and reload quickly. That combination is why it has become the default backcountry sidearm for people who do not want to carry a heavy revolver.
With a 4 inch barrel, an 18 degree grip angle and 28.5 ounces of weight, the pistol handles like any other duty-size M&P. Nothing about carrying it in the field is unusual.
Sights, Safety and Optics
Optic-height white dot sights are fitted, so if you add a red dot the irons remain visible alongside it and remain usable when a battery dies. On a gun intended for backcountry use, a mechanical backup is not optional.
The slide is cut for optics using the Smith and Wesson C.O.R.E. system, which uses interchangeable plates rather than a proprietary footprint, so your optic choice stays open.
A manual thumb safety is fitted, which many people appreciate on a pistol that gets handled around packs, brush and gear rather than living untouched in a holster. Four interchangeable palmswell inserts adjust grip circumference and trigger reach, and a good grip fit matters a great deal with a cartridge that recoils this hard.

Why Buyers Choose the Smith Wesson M2.0 10mm Backpacker
10mm Auto carries genuine authority against large animals while remaining a pistol you can shoot accurately and reload quickly, which is the argument for it over a heavy magnum revolver.
Fifteen rounds of full-power 10mm is a lot of capability on a belt, and the two magazines in the box cover both carry and range use.
The flat dark earth finish and engraving make this a distinctive gun in a market full of black pistols, and Cerakote holds up to the weather and abrasion a field pistol actually sees.
Optic-height sights and a C.O.R.E. cut mean you can add a red dot without losing your irons, which is the right setup for a gun that may be needed in poor light.
Who Should Buy It
The Smith Wesson M2.0 10mm Backpacker suits hikers, hunters, anglers and anyone spending time where bears or hogs live, plus 10mm shooters who want something more interesting than a plain black pistol. Note that 10mm ammunition varies enormously in power, so buy full-power loads with heavy hard-cast or bonded bullets if animal defence is the purpose.
