Description

Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp ported micro compact 380 pistol

The Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp is the Performance Center version of the high capacity pocket .380, with a ported barrel and a compensator cut into the muzzle. It runs a slightly longer 3.1 inch barrel than the standard gun, carries the same ten and twelve round magazines, and wears a gray Armornite finish.

Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp Power Port Compensator

The Power Port is a single port cut at the twelve o clock position at the muzzle, venting propellant gas straight up as the bullet leaves. Gas pushing up counteracts the muzzle rising, and on a pistol this light that matters more than it would on a full size gun. A micro pistol has almost no mass to absorb recoil, so anything that reduces muzzle rise translates directly into faster, more controlled follow up shots.

The barrel is 3.1 inches rather than the 2.75 inches of the standard model, which both accommodates the port and recovers a little velocity. Overall length goes to 5.85 inches and weight to 11.8 ounces, so this is a slightly larger and heavier pistol than the base gun. That extra two ounces also helps settle recoil.

The honest trade with any ported barrel is that gas and flash exit upward into the shooter line of sight, which is far more noticeable in the dark. Anyone whose primary use case is low light defensive carry should weigh that against the control gained.

Sights, Capacity and Trigger

The sights are an upgrade over the standard model: an Ameriglo Protector front with a LumiGreen ring around a tritium lamp, which is bright and fast to pick up in daylight and self illuminating at night. On a compensated pistol that matters, because a brighter front sight is easier to track through the muzzle flash the ports create.

Capacity is unchanged from the standard Bodyguard 2.0, with a flush ten round magazine and a twelve round extended magazine included. The trigger is the flat faced Performance Center style unit, which sits the finger lower on the shoe for more leverage and a cleaner, more repeatable break.

Ammunition and Practice

One practical note on feeding a .380 this size. Defensive loads vary considerably in how they perform from a barrel around three inches, since many hollow points are engineered around longer test barrels and do not always expand the same way here. It is worth confirming that whichever load you intend to carry both functions reliably and groups acceptably in this specific pistol rather than trusting published figures.

Ported barrels also have a maintenance dimension. Carbon builds up around the port faster than it does at a plain muzzle, and left long enough it can affect how evenly gas vents. A brush and solvent through the port area during normal cleaning is enough to keep it working as designed.

Why Buyers Choose the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp

A compensator on a .380 sounds like overkill until you shoot a ten ounce pistol. The problem with micro guns has never been raw recoil energy, it is that so little mass means the muzzle flips hard and the sights take time to come back down. Porting attacks exactly that, and it is why this configuration shoots noticeably flatter than the standard Bodyguard despite the identical cartridge.

Getting the Ameriglo front sight as standard is the other reason to step up. Buying and fitting a quality night sight afterwards typically costs most of the price difference between the two models.

Who Should Buy It

The Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Carry Comp suits the carrier who wants the flattest shooting version of a pocket .380, the recoil sensitive shooter who finds micro pistols unpleasant, and anyone who values a premium front sight fitted at the factory. Buyers focused on low light use should note that ports vent flash upward.
