Description
The Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black is the plain, no-safety version of the current Bodyguard and the one most people should buy. It holds twelve rounds of 380 ACP where the old Bodyguard held six, the trigger is a short usable press instead of a long heavy one, and the sights are real sights. All in a pistol that still disappears in a pocket.

What the 2.0 Fixed on the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black
The original Bodyguard was carried widely and liked by almost nobody who shot it much. Six rounds, a long heavy double-action trigger, and sights that were more suggestion than aiming device. The Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black fixed all three: capacity doubled to twelve, the trigger became a short single-action-style press, and the sights became usable white dots.
It remains genuinely pocket-sized, which is the entire reason to choose a 380 over a micro nine in the first place.
Parts, magazines and holsters for the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black are all current-production items with good availability.
No Manual Safety, and Why That Suits Most Carriers
This configuration has no thumb safety. For a pocket pistol carried in a proper holster that covers the trigger, that is the simpler and faster option — one less thing to remember under stress, and one less thing to get wrong.
If you specifically want a safety, we also stock the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black pattern with a thumb safety fitted. Neither is wrong; it depends on how you carry and what you have trained.
380 ACP in the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black, Straight
Three-eighty carries less energy than 9mm and there is no honest way around that. What it buys is a pistol small enough that you will carry it every day, with recoil mild enough that follow-up shots stay fast. A 380 in your pocket beats a 9mm in a drawer.
Modern defensive loads have narrowed the gap considerably. Buy quality hollow points and confirm they feed in the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black before you carry them.

Who the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black Is For
Deep concealment: pocket, ankle, or a small IWB rig under office clothes. It suits the carrier who has given up on a compact 9mm because it is too much gun for how they actually dress, and anyone who wants a light-recoiling backup to something larger.
If you can comfortably carry a micro 9mm every day, that is the more capable option and you should. This gun exists for the days and outfits where you cannot.
It is also a common second gun for someone who already carries a compact and wants something for the gym or the yard — the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black goes where a belt holster will not.
Magazines and Carry Setup
It ships with both a flush 10-round magazine and an extended 12-round, which covers concealment and grip length respectively. Most people carry the flush one and keep the extended as a spare. Holsters cut for the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black are widely available in pocket, IWB and ankle patterns — note the footprint differs from the original Bodyguard, so old holsters will not fit.
A pocket holster is mandatory, not optional.
We can include a spare magazine with the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black in the same order.
Maintenance for a Pocket Gun
Pocket pistols collect lint, and lint is what stops them. Clean the Smith Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 Black more often than the round count suggests and pay attention to the trigger area and the striker channel. Recoil springs work harder in a short-slide gun; replace the assembly every couple of thousand rounds.
Keep the rails lightly oiled and it will run indefinitely.
