Description
The Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm is the P226 with the double action removed and everything else improved. Where the standard Legion gives you a long first pull and a short one after, this variant is single action only: one consistent flat trigger for every shot, carried cocked with the manual safety engaged. It is the closest SIG comes to building a 1911 trigger into a P226 frame. Part 226RM-9-LEGION-SAO-R2, UPC 798681673704.
What Legion Trim Actually Buys You
Legion is not a colour scheme. The Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm has a reduced, contoured Elite beavertail that lets the hand sit higher on the frame, an X-Five undercut behind the trigger guard, more aggressive front strap checkering and additional checkering under the trigger guard. Every one of those changes moves the hand closer to the bore axis and gives it more to hold onto. On a 34-ounce 9mm that adds up to a gun that barely moves.
The finish on the Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm is Cerakote Elite in Legion gray over a stainless steel slide and an alloy frame. Cerakote Elite is the harder, more solvent-resistant version of the coating, which matters on a pistol likely to see a lot of rounds and a lot of cleaning. Custom G10 grip panels with the Legion medallion replace the usual polymer.
Internally the Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm has a solid steel guide rod, a polished action and low-profile decocking and slide catch levers that will not snag on a holster or clothing. Front cocking serrations make press checks easy. These are the details people normally pay a gunsmith for.

Single Action Only, and Why It Matters
A single action only pistol has one trigger pull. There is no heavy first shot to manage and no transition to learn, which removes the single hardest thing about shooting a traditional DA/SA gun well. The trade is that the Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm is carried hammer back with the manual safety on, exactly like a 1911, and that demands a disciplined manual of arms rather than a casual one.
The flat trigger shoe on the Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm suits the action. A flat face gives a consistent finger contact point and makes the break feel lighter than the same weight on a curved shoe. Paired with the short reset this is a genuinely competition-grade trigger in a duty-sized pistol.
Sights are X-RAY day night sights in a square configuration: a high-visibility front with tritium for darkness, and a blacked square-notch rear that does not compete with it. The slide is also cut for an optic, so a red dot mounts directly. Between the P226 Legion optic ready slide and the X-RAY irons you have a sighting system that works in any light with or without a battery.

Honest Caveats Before You Buy
Cocked and locked is not for everyone. Carrying the Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm means carrying with the hammer back and trusting a thumb safety you must deliberately sweep off. That is a proven system with a century behind it, but it requires training and consistency. If you want a gun you can holster and forget, the DA/SA Legion or a striker pistol is the better answer.
The Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm is a large, heavy pistol. Thirty-four ounces empty, 1.7 inches wide and 8 inches long is duty and range dimensions, not concealed carry. The weight is why it shoots so flat, and it is also why most people who buy one end up carrying something smaller.
Capacity is restricted on this Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm. This is the ten-round configuration built for states that cap magazines, and it ships with three ten-round steel magazines. Standard P226 magazines in 15, 18 and 20 rounds drop straight in where the law allows, so a Pennsylvania buyer is not stuck with ten. Factor the cost of those magazines in.
Two last points. The G10 grips are aggressive by design and will wear the inside of a cover garment over time, which is the price of the grip they give. And confirm your optic footprint before ordering, because a mismatched red dot on the Sig Sauer P226 Legion SAO 9mm needs an adapter plate that raises the sight and spoils the co-witness with those X-RAY irons.
Who it suits: shooters who love the P226 but never got on with the double-action first shot, 1911 owners who want that trigger with more capacity and less maintenance, and competitors who want a heavy, flat-shooting pistol with an optics cut already done.
