Description
The Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth is the magnum-length version of SIG’s folding precision chassis rifle, built here as the Cross Magnum Sawtooth 300 Win Mag with a 24-inch Proof Research carbon-wrapped barrel. It is a rifle you can carry up a mountain that still carries a sub-1 MOA guarantee: 8.1 pounds on the scale, 35.6 inches with the stock folded, and a factory test target in the box. MAG5 Firearms stocks it as SIG part CROSS-MAG-300WM-24B-SAW, UPC 798681700776.
What You Get for the Money
Every Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth ships with a two-stage adjustable match trigger breaking between 2.5 and 4 pounds, a 20-MOA Picatinny receiver rail, and a free-floating alloy handguard carrying both M-LOK slots and an integral ARCA dovetail. That ARCA M-LOK handguard is the detail separating this from a hunting rifle: it clamps straight onto an ARCA tripod head or a bag rider with no adapter, which is how practical precision shooting is actually done now. Dual sling points are built in at front and rear.
The barrel is where the money goes on the Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth. Proof Research carbon-wrapped stainless in a 1:10 twist stabilises the heavy .300 Winchester Magnum bullets most buyers choose this cartridge for, and the carbon wrap sheds heat faster than a steel barrel of equal contour while taking weight off the front of the rifle. Muzzle threads are 5/8-24 with a 90-degree shoulder, and a stainless heavy-profile radial brake is fitted from the factory.
The Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth chassis folds to 35.6 inches and adjusts for length of pull and comb height without tools. The grip is AR-pattern, so a PRS grip or any aftermarket unit drops straight in, and the safety is an ambidextrous AR-style lever. Finish is Moss Green Cerakote throughout. One six-round double-stack steel AICS-pattern magazine is included in the box.

Who a Folding Bolt Action Rifle Is Actually For
A folding bolt action rifle earns its keep in two places: in a pack on a mountain, and in a case that has to fit behind a truck seat or inside airline luggage. At 35.6 inches folded the Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth fits cases a 47-inch rifle will not, and the hinge is rigid enough that zero holds when you deploy it. Extended it measures 47.1 inches, or 45 inches with the stock collapsed.
The 300 Win Mag chambering pushes this rifle into elk, moose and long-range steel territory. With a 24-inch barrel you get close to the cartridge’s designed velocity instead of surrendering two hundred feet per second to a short magnum barrel. Paired with the 20-MOA rail, the Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth has the elevation on tap for first-round hits well past 1,000 yards given a scope with the travel to use it.
Handling is not what a 47-inch magnum usually feels like. Balance sits back behind the handguard because the carbon barrel takes weight off the muzzle, so the Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth tracks well off a bipod and does not fight you on a tripod. Recoil management still depends on position: at 8.1 pounds the Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth moves under recoil far more than a sixteen-pound chassis gun, and you will need to work at spotting your own impacts.

Honest Caveats Before You Buy
Start with recoil. An 8.1-pound rifle in .300 Winchester Magnum is light for the cartridge. The radial brake genuinely reduces felt recoil, and SIG claims up to 45 percent, but a brake does not destroy energy, it redirects it sideways. Standing beside a braked magnum is punishing, and covered benches make it worse. Everyone on the line wants plugs and muffs. That is the honest trade you accept for a Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth light enough to carry all day.
Barrel life is finite and this cartridge is hard on throats. Plan on roughly 1,200 to 2,000 rounds before accuracy begins to walk, depending on how hot you load and how quickly you shoot strings. Ammunition costs two to three times what a 6.5 Creedmoor does. If most of your shooting is paper and steel inside 800 yards, the Creedmoor Sawtooth is a cheaper rifle to own and feed than a Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth, and it will outlast it on the range.
Magazines are the practical annoyance. The Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth uses magnum-length AICS-pattern magazines, which are less common and more expensive than short-action AICS mags, and only one ships in the box. Buy spares when you find them rather than when you need them.
The muzzle threads accept a suppressor as readily as the factory brake, but a suppressor in the United States means an ATF Form 4, a 200 dollar tax stamp, a wait, and legality in your state. MAG5 Firearms is not an SOT and does not sell NFA items, so that purchase has to go through a suppressor dealer. One last note: the 20-MOA rail that helps at distance can leave a short-travel scope out of elevation at 100 yards, so check your optic before you mount it on the Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth.
Who it suits: hunters who walk in and need a rifle that folds into a pack, practical-precision shooters who want an ARCA M-LOK handguard and a sub-1 MOA rifle without waiting on a custom build, and anyone who travels with rifles and is tired of oversized cases. If that is you, the Sig Sauer Cross Magnum Sawtooth is a serious tool rather than a safe queen.
