Description
The Shadow Systems XR920 Unthreaded Black is a pistol chambered in 9mm with a 4-inch barrel and a 17+1 capacity. This configuration has a black barrel or finish and a unthreaded barrel.
Shadow Systems XR920 Unthreaded Black Overview
The XR920 began as a law-enforcement request and blends a compact, fast-handling slide with a full-size frame. You get quicker draws from the holster with the shorter slide, while keeping full-size grip, control, and 17+1 capacity.
Design and Features
It uses Shadow Systems’ configurable grip system with interchangeable backstraps, a recoil control ledge, and an extended beavertail, plus an optics-ready Elite slide with directional serrations and the patented multi-footprint optic mount.
Handling and Carry
Shadow Systems pistols are known for shooting flatter and handling better than their size suggests. The texture is aggressive enough to lock in your grip without being uncomfortable for carry, and the controls are easy to reach and run under stress.
Trigger and Controls
The flat-faced trigger delivers a consistent, repeatable press with a clean break and short reset. The striker-fired action is compatible with many common aftermarket parts and accessories.
Sights and Optics
Steel sights come standard, and the slide accepts most popular red dots directly through Shadow Systems’ optic mounting system.
The 9mm Cartridge
The 9mm Luger is the most popular handgun cartridge in the world. It offers manageable recoil, good capacity, and a huge selection of affordable practice and defensive ammunition.
Setup and Accessories
A good holster is the most important accessory for any carry pistol. Choose one that covers the trigger guard completely and holds the gun securely, then add a sturdy gun belt, spare magazines, and a weapon light if the frame has a rail. Practice drawing and reloading with an unloaded gun until it feels natural.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the pistol and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
State Laws
Magazine capacity limits, feature restrictions, and transfer rules vary by state and locality. Check your local laws before ordering, and ask your receiving dealer if you are unsure whether this configuration is legal where you live.
