Description
The Savage Rascal F-SR 22 LR Black is a single-shot 22 LR youth rifle with a 16 1/8-inch sporter barrel threaded 1/2×28, a black synthetic stock with an 11.25-inch length of pull, iron sights, and a user-adjustable trigger. At just 3.5 pounds, it is sized and built for young shooters learning the fundamentals.
Savage Rascal F-SR 22 LR Black Overview
Savage calls the Rascal the industry’s safest micro rimfire, and its design shows why. The rifle cocks when you lift the bolt, not when you close it, and it can be unloaded without pulling the trigger. A two-position manual safety adds another layer of control. Those features make it easier for parents and mentors to teach safe handling from day one, while the full-size rifle features help young shooters build real marksmanship skills.
Threaded Sporter Barrel
The Rascal SR has a refreshed, modern look and a carbon steel sporter barrel with a matte finish. Its 1:16 twist suits standard 22 LR ammunition, and the muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 so you can add a rimfire suppressor where local law allows. A suppressed Rascal is quiet and gentle, which helps nervous new shooters relax and focus on the basics.
Sized for Young Shooters
The black synthetic stock is light and tough, with an 11.25-inch length of pull that fits small frames. A proper fit lets kids hold the rifle steady, get a good cheek weld, and see the sights clearly, which makes learning more fun and more successful. The synthetic material shrugs off bumps, scratches, and wet weather.
Adjustable Iron Sights
Metal adjustable iron sights come installed, so young shooters learn the fundamentals of sight alignment and sight picture before moving to optics. Two-piece Weaver-style bases are included for mounting a small scope later.
User-Adjustable Trigger
The Savage AccuTrigger lets an adult set pull weight between 2.5 and 6 pounds. It gives a crisp, clean break that rewards good technique, and its center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge.
Built for Teaching
Shooting one round at a time slows the pace and keeps attention on safety and fundamentals. A feed ramp makes loading easy for small fingers, and the rifle ships with ear plugs and a firearms lock so new shooters start with good habits for hearing protection and safe storage.
Growing with the Shooter
As a young shooter gains confidence, the Rascal grows with them. Add a compact rimfire scope to the included bases for small-game hunting or tighter groups on paper, and use the threaded muzzle for a suppressor when the time comes. Many families keep a Rascal for years, passing it from older kids to younger ones as each learns to shoot safely and accurately.
