Description
The Savage Mark II FVXP 22 LR is a bolt-action rimfire rifle with a 21-inch varmint carbon steel barrel, a black synthetic stock, a 5-round detachable box magazine, and a user-adjustable trigger, plus a mounted and bore-sighted 3-9x40mm scope. It weighs about 6.2 lbs and is built for accurate, dependable shooting.
Savage Mark II FVXP 22 LR Overview
The Mark II is one of the most popular rimfire bolt-action rifles ever made, prized for its accuracy, simple and reliable action, and Savage’s user-adjustable trigger. The 22 LR is the most popular cartridge in the world for good reason: ammunition is affordable and easy to find, recoil is almost nonexistent, and it is quiet enough for plinking, squirrel hunting, and hours of practice.
Barrel and Action
The 21-inch carbon steel varmint barrel is button-rifled for uniform grooves and consistent accuracy, with a 1:16 twist matched to 22 LR bullets. The heavier varmint profile steadies the rifle and resists heat for tight groups from a rest.
Stock and Fit
The black matte synthetic stock is tough, lightweight, and weather resistant, so it will not swell or warp in rain or humidity. It shrugs off bumps in the truck and drops at the range.
Mounted and Bore-Sighted Scope
This XP package comes with a 3-9x40mm scope already mounted and bore-sighted at the factory, so you can confirm your zero at the range and start shooting with minimal setup.
User-Adjustable Trigger
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set your own pull weight for a crisp, clean break, a big advantage on small targets. The center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge, and the light, predictable pull helps new shooters build good habits.
Magazine and Handling
The 5-round detachable box magazine loads easily and drops free for quick, safe unloading between stands or at the end of a range session. Spare magazines make practice days more productive.
In the Field
Rimfire rifles often prefer one load over another, so try a few brands of 22 LR to see which groups best in your barrel. Lighter, faster bullets are great for small pests, while heavier bullets buck the wind better. Pair the rifle with a quality rimfire scope and a steady rest, and you will be surprised how far you can make precise hits.
Care and Cleaning
Rimfire ammunition leaves more fouling than most centerfire loads, so a little routine care keeps the Savage Mark II FVXP 22 LR running smoothly and shooting accurately. After a range session, wipe down the bolt and chamber area, run a few patches through the bore, and put a light coat of oil on exposed metal. Store the rifle in a dry place and it will give you years of dependable service.
