Description
The Savage B22 Magnum F Compact 22 WMR is a bolt-action rimfire rifle with an 18-inch sporter carbon steel barrel, a black synthetic compact stock, a 10-round rotary magazine, and a user-adjustable trigger. It weighs about 5.25 lbs and is built for accurate, dependable shooting.
Savage B22 Magnum F Compact 22 WMR Overview
The B Series F is Savage’s straightforward, accurate rimfire bolt gun, combining a smooth bolt action with a crisp adjustable trigger and a durable synthetic stock at a price that leaves room for good ammunition and optics. The compact version has a shorter barrel and length of pull that fit smaller shooters and youth hunters. The 22 WMR, or 22 Magnum, carries noticeably more energy than a 22 LR, extending your reach on foxes, groundhogs, and other small game while keeping recoil and report mild.
Barrel and Action
The 18-inch carbon steel sporter barrel is button rifled for uniform grooves and consistent accuracy, with a 1:16 twist matched to 22 WMR bullets. The sporter profile keeps the rifle light and well balanced for carrying in the field.
Stock and Fit
The modern, ergonomic composite stock is tough, lightweight, and weather resistant, so it will not swell or warp in rain or humidity, and a top tang safety sits right under your thumb for quick, quiet operation. The 12.75-inch length of pull fits smaller-framed shooters comfortably.
Optics Ready
The receiver is drilled and tapped for scope mounts, so you can add bases and a rimfire scope when you are ready.
User-Adjustable Trigger
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set your own pull weight for a crisp, clean break, a big advantage on small targets. The center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge, and the light, predictable pull helps new shooters build good habits.
Magazine and Handling
The 10-round rotary magazine feeds smoothly and sits nearly flush with the bottom of the stock, so it stays out of the way when you carry the rifle or shoot from a rest. Spare magazines make range days more productive, and dropping the magazine makes unloading quick and safe.
In the Field
Rimfire rifles often prefer one load over another, so try a few brands of 22 WMR to see which groups best in your barrel. Lighter, faster bullets are great for small pests, while heavier bullets buck the wind better. Pair the rifle with a quality rimfire scope and a steady rest, and you will be surprised how far you can make precise hits.
Care and Cleaning
Rimfire ammunition leaves more fouling than most centerfire loads, so a little routine care keeps the Savage B22 Magnum F Compact 22 WMR running smoothly and shooting accurately. After a range session, wipe down the bolt and chamber area, run a few patches through the bore, and put a light coat of oil on exposed metal. Store the rifle in a dry place and it will give you years of dependable service.
