Description
The Savage Axis 2 XP LH 30-06 is a rifle chambered in 30-06 Springfield with a 20-inch barrel and a 4+1 capacity. Savage lists it in the Axis 2 XP family as SKU 33206.
Savage Axis 2 XP LH 30-06 Overview
The Savage Axis is one of the most popular value-priced bolt-action rifles in the country, known for delivering accuracy well beyond its price. The Axis 2 line adds the user-adjustable AccuTrigger, and XP models come with a factory-mounted, bore-sighted scope so you can head to the range right away.
Design and Features
This Axis 2 XP configuration features a heavy sporter threaded-contour carbon steel barrel with a matte finish, a threaded muzzle (5/8×24), a gray synthetic sporter stock, a user-adjustable AccuTrigger (2.5 lbs to 6 lbs), and a factory-mounted, bore-sighted 3-9×40 scope. The rate of twist is 1:10″. It holds 4 rounds in a detachable box magazine. It weighs 7.6 lbs and measures 40.5″ overall.
Handling in the Field
The rifle shoulders comfortably and balances well, so it is easy to carry in the field and steady when it is time to shoot. It is equally at home in a treestand, a ground blind, or at the range.
Action and Trigger
The bolt runs smoothly, and the AccuTrigger can be adjusted for a lighter, crisper pull. A detachable box magazine makes loading and unloading quick.
Sights and Optics
Mount the optic of your choice with quality rings or a mount, and zero it with the load you plan to use.
The 30-06 Springfield Cartridge
The 30-06 Springfield is one of the most versatile hunting cartridges ever made, with loads for everything from deer to elk.
Setup and Accessories
Start with a quality optic and solid rings or a mount, then add a sling for carrying and a bipod or shooting bag for steady rests. Test a few loads for accuracy and settle on the one your rifle likes best. A hard case protects your investment on the way to the range or the field.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the rifle and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the bolt face and chamber. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
