Description
The Savage Axis 2 XP Hardwood 22-250 Rem is a bolt-action centerfire rifle with a 20-inch heavy sporter carbon steel barrel, a brown hardwood stock, a 4-round detachable box magazine, and a user-adjustable trigger, plus a mounted and bore-sighted 3-9x40mm scope. It weighs about 7.8 lbs and is built for accurate, dependable hunting.
Savage Axis 2 XP Hardwood 22-250 Rem Overview
The Axis 2 XP Hardwood is a ready-to-hunt package that pairs Savage’s improved Axis 2 rifle with a classic hardwood stock and a factory-mounted scope. The 22-250 Remington is a classic varmint cartridge that sends light bullets screaming fast and flat, perfect for coyotes, groundhogs, and prairie dogs at long range.
Barrel and Action
The 20-inch carbon steel barrel is precision button rifled for consistent accuracy, with a heavy sporter profile, a 1:12 twist matched to 22-250 bullets, and a threaded muzzle for a brake or suppressor where local law allows. An enhanced bolt handle design makes cycling quick and positive.
Stock and Fit
The brown hardwood stock gives the rifle a classic look and a solid, steady feel, with enhanced texturing and a contoured pistol grip with ambidextrous palm swells. Wood is a natural material, so every stock shows its own grain and color.
Mounted and Bore-Sighted Scope
This XP package comes with a 3-9x40mm scope already mounted and bore-sighted at the factory, so you can confirm your zero at the range and start hunting with minimal setup.
User-Adjustable Trigger
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger lets you set your own pull weight for a crisp, clean break with no creep. A light, predictable trigger makes a big difference when you are holding steady on a distant target, and the center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge.
Magazine and Handling
The 4-round detachable box magazine sits flush and makes loading and unloading quick and safe.
In the Field
Spend time at the range shooting from field positions such as sitting, kneeling, and off shooting sticks, and you will be ready when the moment comes. Pair the rifle with premium 22-250 Remington ammunition, confirm your zero before each season, and you will have a dependable rifle that makes ethical, accurate shots.
Care and Cleaning
A little routine care keeps the Savage Axis 2 XP Hardwood 22-250 Rem running smoothly and shooting accurately for years. After each outing, wipe down exposed metal, run a few patches through the bore, and keep the bolt lightly lubricated. Store the rifle in a dry place, check that the action screws stay snug, and recheck your zero before each season.
