Description
The Savage Axis 2 Gray 270 Win 22 is a full-size bolt-action hunting rifle chambered in 270 Winchester, with a 22-inch sporter barrel, a gray synthetic stock, and a 4-round detachable magazine. It is an affordable, accurate rifle built to take deer, pronghorn, and sheep across open country and timber alike.
Savage Axis 2 Gray 270 Win 22 Overview
The Axis 2 gives hunters better out-of-the-box performance at a price that leaves room for good optics and ammunition. Savage paired the proven Axis action with a trigger you can tune yourself, an updated stock, and an ambidextrous magazine release. In 270 Win, a cartridge famous for its flat trajectory and long-range reach, the Axis 2 becomes a dependable rifle for nearly any North American big game hunt short of the biggest bears.
Sporter Barrel Built for Hunting
The 22-inch carbon steel barrel has a sporter contour and a matte finish that cuts glare in the field. Its 1:10 twist is well suited to the 130 to 150-grain bullets that make the 270 Win such a versatile deer and pronghorn cartridge. The sporter profile keeps the rifle balanced and easy to carry on long walks.
Gray Synthetic Stock
The gray synthetic stock is tough, lightweight, and weather resistant. It will not swell or warp in rain and snow like wood can. A recoil pad softens each shot, two sling studs are ready for a sling or bipod, and the 13.75-inch length of pull fits a wide range of adult shooters.
User-Adjustable Trigger
The Savage AccuTrigger lets you set pull weight from 2.5 to 6 pounds without a gunsmith. Its center safety blade helps prevent accidental discharge while allowing a crisp, clean break, which is a big reason Savage rifles have a reputation for accuracy straight out of the box.
Detachable Magazine and Scope Mounting
The rifle feeds from a 4-round detachable box magazine with an ambidextrous release, so loading and unloading at the stand or truck is quick and safe. Two-piece scope bases come installed, letting you mount your favorite riflescope with standard rings.
Why 270 Winchester
The 270 Win has been a favorite of deer hunters for nearly a century. It shoots flat, hits hard, and offers manageable recoil, and factory ammunition is easy to find in a wide range of bullet types. It is a natural choice for open-country hunts where shots can stretch out. Popular loads range from fast 130-grain bullets for pronghorn and whitetails to tougher 150-grain bonded bullets for elk at moderate range, so one rifle can cover a lot of hunting seasons.
