Description
The Ruger SR1911 45 ACP OD Green is a pistol chambered in 45 ACP with a 4.25-inch barrel.
Ruger SR1911 45 ACP OD Green Overview
The Ruger SR1911 is a faithful 1911 built with modern manufacturing. Precision CNC machining gives a tight slide-to-frame fit and smooth slide travel, and positive barrel lock-up delivers excellent accuracy out of the box. When you choose a handgun, the right size depends on how you plan to use it. A smaller frame is easier to conceal under a light shirt, while a longer grip and slide give you more control, a longer sight radius and faster follow-up shots at the range.
Spend time with the grip in your hand, try a few draws from the holster you plan to use, and practice reloads with the magazines it ships with. Regular practice with quality ammunition will build the confidence and skill that matter far more than any single feature.
Design and Features
It has a skeletonized aluminum trigger with a crisp, light pull and quick reset, a skeletonized hammer, a titanium firing pin for faster lock time, an oversized beavertail grip safety and an extended thumb safety. Commander and lightweight versions trim size and weight for carry. For carry, pair it with a quality holster that covers the trigger guard completely and a sturdy belt that keeps the gun stable through the day. For home defense, a weapon light and a secure, quick-access safe are worth considering.
Whatever the role, spend time learning to manipulate the controls until loading, unloading and clearing malfunctions become second nature.
Handling and Carry
Spend time at the range with the ammunition you plan to carry or hunt with, and you will find the Ruger SR1911 easy to shoot well.
Trigger and Controls
The single action trigger breaks cleanly with very little creep.
Sights and Optics
The factory sights give a clear, quick sight picture, and an optic-ready slide (where fitted) lets you add a red dot whenever you are ready.
The 45 ACP Cartridge
The 45 ACP has served American shooters for more than a century. Its big, slower bullet hits hard with a recoil impulse many describe as a firm push.
Setup and Accessories
A good holster is the most important accessory for any carry pistol. Choose one that covers the trigger guard completely and holds the gun securely, then add a sturdy gun belt, spare magazines, and a weapon light if the frame has a rail. Practice drawing and reloading with an unloaded gun until it feels natural.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the pistol and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the breech face and slide rails. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
