Description

The Retay ACE Paloma 28 Gauge 28 in is a Retay ACE inertia driven semi auto shotgun in 28 gauge with a 28 inch deep bore drilled barrel and a 3 inch chamber, finished in Polished Black. This listing is UPC 193212036438, Retay item C-ACEPAL-28. It weighs about 5 lb and holds 2+1 shells with the standard plug setup.

Retay ACE Paloma 28 Gauge 28 in Overview

Retay builds its shotguns in Turkey and backs them with a limited lifetime warranty. The ACE runs on Retay’s Inertia Plus system with a rotating bolt for full lock up and no bolt rattle, so it stays clean and cycles without gas ports. It is the lighter, simpler model in the line, made to carry all day in rough country. The Paloma, Spanish for dove, is the bird hunter’s version with a polished black finish.

Dead Straight Barrel and Forcing Cone

The 28 inch barrel is deep bore drilled from solid stock rather than formed around a mandrel, which Retay says makes it straighter and stronger. A factory lengthened forcing cone eases the shot column into the bore for fewer deformed pellets and, by Retay’s numbers, about 20 percent more pellets on target. A single fiber optic bead sits up front.

Chokes

The gun ships with extended black Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Modified, Improved Modified and Full tubes, so you can go from close shots over a field to longer passing shots without changing guns. Extended tubes are easy to swap by hand and protect the muzzle threads.

Inertia Plus Action

The rotating bolt locks fully into the barrel extension, and the bolt rollover torsion spring keeps it from bouncing back out of battery. Inertia guns like loads with real recoil, so very light target loads may not cycle reliably until the gun is broken in.

Easy Out Unloading and Controls

With the Easy Out system you can empty the magazine without cycling every shell through the chamber, a real convenience at the truck or the blind. The push button trigger group drops out for cleaning, and the oversized safety can be reversed for left handed shooters.

Stock and Receiver

The ACE uses an all aluminum receiver with no plastic parts in the action housing and the standard ACE stock. A shim kit adjusts drop and cast, and length of pull is 14.5 inches. Retay drills and taps only the 12 gauge receivers, so plan on a rib mounted dot if you want an optic on this gun.

The 28 gauge

The 28 gauge is famous for patterns that punch above their weight with very little recoil. It is a joy for doves, quail and clays, but shells cost more and are harder to find than 12 or 20 gauge, so stock up.

Where It Fits

This Paloma is made for dove fields, quail coveys and casual clays, where a light, quick handling gun matters most.

State Laws

Semi auto shotguns are legal in every state, though hunting rules on shot type, plugs and magazine capacity vary. Pennsylvania buyers can transfer at our Collegeville shop or at any FFL.
