Description
The Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge is the sporting build in twenty: polished black end to end, 28 inches of barrel, an inertia action and five pounds nine ounces on the scale. Retay aimed it at clays, dove fields and wingshooting rather than at a marsh, and every choice on the spec sheet follows from that.
What Makes the Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge Work
The Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge finish is the first thing you notice. Polished black across the receiver, barrel and synthetic stock reads more like a competition gun than a field gun, and for a shotgun that lives on a clays course rather than in cover that is exactly right. Camouflage does nothing for you at a sporting station.
Twenty gauge on a sporting gun is an underrated combination. Recoil across a hundred targets is meaningfully lower than a twelve, the gun is lighter to carry between stations, and modern twenty gauge target loads break clays perfectly well inside normal presentations. You give up a little margin on the longest targets and gain comfort everywhere else.
The Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge action is inertia driven. The Inertia Plus bolt uses a rollover torsion spring to rotate the bolt head positively into battery, which is the fix for the one real weakness inertia guns used to have. With no gas system there is nothing to foul, which matters when you shoot two hundred rounds in an afternoon.
Chokes, Capacity and Fit
Five extended black choke tubes ship with every Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge, covering cylinder through full. Extended tubes are the right call on a sporting shotgun because you change them between stations, and doing that by hand instead of digging for a wrench saves real time over a season.
Capacity on the Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge is 3+1 with a 3 inch chamber, so the same gun handles light target loads and heavier field shells for doves or upland birds. The receiver is not drilled and tapped in twenty gauge, so plan on the single fiber optic bead rather than a rib mounted optic. For clays that is the correct arrangement anyway.
The Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge barrel is deep bore drilled from straight stock with a factory lengthened forcing cone, which aims at more consistent patterns and a gentler push. Length of pull is 14.5 inches with a shim kit included, and the trigger group comes out at the push of a button with no tools.

Who It Is For
Clays shooters who want less recoil are the obvious audience. A Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge costs a fraction of a dedicated sporting over and under and gives you a light, quick gun with easy choke changes, which covers most of what a club shooter needs.
Dove hunters and new shooters benefit too. Five pounds nine ounces carries easily in a field, the polished finish wipes clean, and the mild recoil means a beginner can shoot a full round without developing a flinch. A Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge is a good first semi auto.
Where it is the wrong gun is waterfowl. There is no camouflage, no drilled and tapped receiver and no extended magazine, and a polished black shotgun in a blind is working against you. The Ace in Realtree Legacy or Bottomland is the gun for that.
A few practical notes before ordering a Retay Ace Paloma 20 Gauge. Set the stock up with the included shim kit before your first round, because a light gun rewards good fit and shows up a bad one quickly. Break the action in with standard velocity target loads rather than the lightest promotional shells, since inertia systems need a certain amount of recoil energy to cycle reliably when new. Keep a spare choke or two in the bag, and use the push button trigger group removal when you clean it.
