Radian Weapons Model 1 223 Wylde – Superb 14.5 in. AR Rifle

Description

The Radian Weapons Model 1 223 Wylde is a hand-assembled AR-15 built around the ambidextrous parts that made Radian a household name among AR shooters. This configuration wears Radian Gray Cerakote across matched billet receivers and a free-floating M-LOK handguard, and it runs a 14.5 inch barrel with a permanently pinned and welded Dead Air flash hider for a 16 inch overall barrel length.

Radian Weapons Model 1 223 Wylde Barrel and Gas System

The barrel is 416R stainless steel chambered in 223 Wylde, which is the chamber that splits the difference between 5.56 NATO and 223 Remington. It safely handles 5.56 pressures while delivering the tighter accuracy of a 223 chamber, so you are not choosing between ammunition availability and group size. The muzzle is threaded 1/2×28 under the pinned Dead Air flash hider.

Gas is mid-length direct impingement. On a 14.5 inch barrel, mid-length gas gives a longer dwell time and a noticeably softer, flatter impulse than the carbine-length system most 14.5 inch rifles use. It is easier on the bolt too, which matters over a service life measured in tens of thousands of rounds.

Radian Weapons Model 1 223 Wylde Ambidextrous Controls

This is where Radian earns the price. The Model 1 uses Radian own ambidextrous controls throughout: the Raptor charging handle, the Talon safety selector with selectable 45 and 90 degree throws, and ambidextrous magazine release and bolt catch built into the lower. Left handed shooters get a rifle that works the way it should, and right handed shooters get to run the gun without breaking their firing grip.

The upper and lower are billet machined and Cerakoted as a matched set, which is why the color match is seamless rather than the slightly-off pairing you get on a lot of two-tone builds. The handguard free floats the barrel and carries M-LOK slots for lights, bipods and hand stops. The trigger is an ATC AR Gold match unit, and the furniture is Magpul: a CTR stock and an MOE-pattern grip.

Why Buyers Choose the Radian Weapons Model 1 223 Wylde

Because building this rifle from parts costs more. A Raptor charging handle, a Talon safety, an ambidextrous billet lower, a stainless match barrel and an AR Gold trigger add up quickly, and assembling them yourself means you own every headspacing and torque decision. Radian hand-assembles, inspects and test-fires each rifle and backs it with a lifetime guarantee.

The 14.5 inch pinned configuration is also a deliberate choice rather than a compromise. You get the handling and balance of a 14.5 inch carbine with the sight radius and legality of a 16 inch rifle, and the pinned flash hider is not coming off, which means no paperwork and no questions.

Who Should Buy It

The Radian Weapons Model 1 223 Wylde suits shooters who want a duty-grade, fully ambidextrous AR without assembling one, competitors who value a light trigger and fast controls, and left handed shooters who are tired of settling. It is also a strong choice for anyone who runs a rifle in a class or a course of fire where manipulations are timed. If you want a budget AR or a lightweight hunting build, this is more rifle and more money than you need.
