Description
Glock’s Gen 6 pistols changed the slide and barrel profile enough that older muzzle hardware no longer drops in, and the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 is Radian Weapons’ answer for shooters who want less muzzle rise without cutting threads into a barrel. Sold under part number R0985, the kit pairs the RAMJET ported pistol barrel with the AFTERBURNER micro-compensator, joined by Radian’s threadless INTRA-LOK taper interface. It installs in a Glock 19 Gen 6 or Glock 45 Gen 6 slide with no gunsmithing, no shims and no thread locker. MAG5 Firearms stocks the black Radianite version, UPC 810098421652.

What the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 system actually does
The RAMJET is a match-grade, cut-rifled barrel machined from hardened 416R stainless steel. It is fluted to shed weight and dump heat, and the muzzle is left unthreaded, which keeps the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 usable in states that restrict threaded handgun barrels. A gas sealing chamber behind the muzzle routes propellant gas into the compensator rather than letting it vent straight forward, and a loaded chamber indicator is cut into the hood.
The Afterburner micro compensator slides over that gas chamber and locks down with a single tapered screw torqued to 15 inch-pounds. Radian calls the interface INTRA-LOK, and the point of it is that there are no muzzle threads to time, no crush washer and no thread locker to break loose later. The front face is angled so the assembled Glock 19 Gen 6 compensator still feeds into a holster mouth cleanly. Radian claims a 44 percent reduction in felt recoil with 115-grain ammunition when barrel and comp are run together as the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 package.

Fitment, holsters and installation
This is a Gen 6 part and nothing else. The Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 will not fit a Gen 5 G19, a G19X, or a Gen 3 or Gen 4 frame; Radian builds separate kits for those, and the hood and lug geometry are not interchangeable. Installed on a G19, the compensator pushes overall length out to Glock 17 dimensions, so plan on a G17-length holster. That is a real cost if you already bought G19 kydex, though it also means the Glock 45 Gen 6 barrel and comp combination sits in holsters you may already own.
Installing the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 takes a few minutes: clear the pistol, pull the slide, swap the factory barrel for the Ramjet ported barrel, reinstall the recoil spring, slide the Afterburner micro compensator on and torque the tapered screw. Sight picture is unchanged, since nothing mounts to the slide. If you run a weapon light, check that your holster’s light channel clears the compensator body before you commit.
The honest caveats
A compensator is not free performance, and the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 is no exception. Redirecting gas upward makes the pistol noticeably louder to the shooter and to anyone standing beside you, and it throws more gas, unburned powder and particulate back toward your face. Indoors, or shooting from a compressed retention position, that is genuinely unpleasant. Ported barrels and comps also foul fast, so expect to scrub carbon out of the Afterburner micro compensator far more often than you would clean a plain muzzle.
Hanging a comp on a Glock also changes slide timing. Radian says plainly that the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 can require adjustment to recoil spring, lubrication or ammunition choice. Light 115-grain range loads are the floor the system is designed around, and anything weaker can short-stroke. If this pistol has a defensive role, put a couple hundred rounds of your actual carry load through it before you trust the setup.
Check local law as well. The Ramjet ported barrel ships unthreaded and is sold as fifty-state legal, but some municipalities restrict compensated or ported handguns, and several competition divisions bar them from stock classes. Because there are no muzzle threads, this is not a suppressor host either; if a can is in your future, buy a threaded barrel instead. At roughly four hundred dollars, the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 is also a serious spend against the price of the pistol itself.
Who the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 suits
Competition and range shooters get the most from it: flatter tracking between shots, a match barrel that generally tightens groups over a factory tube, and no permanent change to the pistol, since the Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 comes back off in minutes. Home-defense users should weigh the added blast and flash honestly before committing. If you would rather have the same Radian Afterburner Ramjet Gen 6 in bronze PVD, we stock that finish too, and the Radian Glock 19 quick-tune guide rod is the usual companion purchase for dialing recoil spring weight back in.
