Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ – Proven Reliable 5 Round Box

Description

The Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ is Serbian built military specification ammunition for the biggest cartridge most civilians will ever shoot. Prvi Partizan has been loading brass cased centerfire since 1928, and the RangeMaster line is their answer to shooters who want to actually practice with a fifty caliber rifle instead of admiring one in the safe. Five rounds per box keeps the entry price sane.

What the numbers mean downrange

A 625 grain full metal jacket leaving the muzzle at 2940 feet per second carries roughly 11,994 foot pounds of energy. For scale, a stout 308 Winchester hunting load makes about 2,700. That is not a small step up, it is a different category of cartridge, and it is why the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ demands a purpose built rifle and a serious muzzle brake.

The flip side of that energy is reach. The 50 BMG holds supersonic velocity well past 1,500 yards, which is why it remains the standard long range training cartridge. Practicing with the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ teaches you to read wind at distances where a rimfire or an intermediate cartridge simply gives up.

Rifles this load suits

Single shot bolt guns like the Barrett M99 and the Serbu BFG-50 handle the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ without complaint, and so do magazine fed bolt actions. If you run a semi automatic such as a Barrett M107 style rifle, standard pressure military specification loads like this one are what those gas systems were designed around, which makes the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ a sensible default rather than a gamble.

Check your chamber and throat before ordering in volume. Fifty caliber rifles vary more than most, and a barrel that has seen a few thousand rounds of surplus may print differently than a fresh one. Start with a single box, confirm your zero, then buy deeper once you know how the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ prints in your rifle.

Honest notes before you buy

This is ball ammunition, not match ammunition. Expect practical accuracy in the one and a half to two minute range from a good rifle, which is entirely adequate for steel at distance and for learning the cartridge. If you are chasing half minute groups at a thousand yards, you want a match load and a much larger budget.

Understand the cost per trigger pull too. Five rounds is a short range session by any other standard, and that is the honest reality of shooting fifty caliber. Plan your day around confirming zero and making a handful of deliberate shots rather than running drills. Hearing protection is not optional here, and neither is a solid rest.

Finally, check your local rules. A few states and municipalities restrict 50 caliber rifles or their ammunition outright, and we cannot ship where the law says no.

Brass worth keeping

Fifty caliber brass is expensive and hard to find, so the reloadable cases in the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ carry real value on their own. Prvi Partizan runs thick, consistent walls and boxer primers, which means standard fifty caliber dies will size and prime them without drama. Many shooters buy the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ as much for the brass as for the loaded round.

Pick up every case. Sort by lot, inspect the case mouths, and anneal before you have loaded them too many times. Handled carefully, the brass from a few boxes of Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ will serve a handloader for years, which quietly changes the math on what this ammunition actually costs.

The bottom line

For practice, steel work and load development, the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ is a dependable military specification choice at a fair price. You can read Prvi Partizan’s own background at prvipartizan.com, and you can browse the rest of our stock on the MAG5 Firearms ammunition page.

MAG5 Firearms keeps the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ moving rather than letting it age on a shelf, and we are glad to talk through rifle and load questions before you order. If you are new to the cartridge, order one box of the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ first and see how your rifle likes it.

Handling and storage

A single 50 BMG round is heavy enough that a dropped box can dent case mouths, so keep the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ in its packaging until you are at the bench. Inspect each round before chambering, and set aside anything with a visibly dinged mouth or a loose bullet. That habit costs nothing and prevents the one bad round from ruining a range day.

Store the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ somewhere cool, dry and dark, ideally in a sealed can with a desiccant pack. Brass cased non corrosive ammunition kept that way stays good for decades. What kills ammunition is heat cycling and humidity, not age, so a garage shelf in a humid climate is the one place you should not put it.

Clean your rifle after shooting the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ. Non corrosive primers mean you are not racing the clock the way you would with surplus, but fifty caliber bores collect copper quickly and accuracy falls off faster than most shooters expect. A proper bore guide and a one piece rod are worth the money on a rifle of this size.

One last practical note. Fifty caliber rifles are heavy, and the recoil impulse is long rather than sharp, so a stable position matters more than raw strength. Shoot the Prvi Partizan 50 BMG 625gr FMJ prone off a bipod with a rear bag if you can, keep your body straight behind the rifle, and let the brake do its work. Shooters who fight the gun get flinch and stringing; shooters who set up properly find the cartridge far more pleasant than its reputation suggests.
