PPU 44 Mag 240gr JHP – Powerful Hunting Ammo

Description

The PPU 44 Mag 240gr JHP load, item PPH44MH, is a 50 round box of 44 Remington Magnum ammunition from Prvi Partizan, loaded with a 240 grain jacketed hollow point bullet in a boxer-primed, reloadable brass case.

PPU 44 Mag 240gr JHP Overview

Prvi Partizan, better known as PPU, is one of the oldest ammunition makers in Europe, with roots going back to 1928 in Uzice, Serbia. PPU is known for producing quality ammunition in a huge range of calibers, including many older and less common cartridges that other makers have dropped. Shooters value PPU for consistent performance, reloadable brass cases and fair prices, which is why it is a favorite for everything from hunting to keeping vintage rifles and pistols shooting.

Bullet Design

A jacketed hollow point bullet expands on impact, increasing its diameter to transfer energy and reduce over-penetration compared with solid bullets. It is the standard choice for personal protection and home defense loads.

Intended Use

A heavy hollow point in a magnum handgun cartridge is a popular choice for handgun hunting of deer and hogs at close range, and it also serves as a woods carry load. Check your state rules for handgun hunting. Handgun hunting with a magnum revolver is a rewarding challenge for experienced shooters.

Firearm Compatibility

This ammunition is made for firearms chambered in 44 Remington Magnum. Always check the caliber marking on your barrel or slide before loading. It cannot be fired in a 44 Special revolver, though 44 Special ammunition can be fired in a 44 Magnum.

Brass Cases

PPU loads this ammunition in boxer-primed brass cases. Brass extracts reliably, resists corrosion and can be reloaded, which makes PPU a popular choice with handloaders who want quality cases for less common calibers.

Recoil and Shootability

The 44 Magnum produces heavy recoil and a loud, bright blast. A heavy revolver or a lever-action rifle makes it much easier to shoot. Practice with the load you plan to use so you know where it prints and how it handles.

Quality and Consistency

PPU manufactures its own cases, bullets and primers, which gives the company control over consistency from lot to lot. Its ammunition is supplied to militaries and police forces as well as civilian shooters around the world, and the same production standards apply to its sporting loads. That consistency is a big reason PPU has earned a strong following among hunters, target shooters and collectors.

Choosing a Load

Pick ammunition based on what you plan to do. Full metal jacket and lead loads are for practice and targets, hollow points are for defense, and soft points are for hunting. Within each type, consider bullet weight: lighter bullets fly faster and flatter, while heavier bullets carry more momentum and penetrate deeper.

Practice and Testing

Shoot a few groups with this load to learn where it prints in your firearm, and check function before you rely on it for hunting or protection. Different loads can print to different points of aim, so confirm your zero whenever you change ammunition.

Storage and Care

Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original boxes, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds before loading, and set aside any with dents, loose bullets or corrosion.
