POF Minuteman 556 AR Pistol Black 10.5in 30rd Renegade Rail – Rugged Compact DI Pistol

Description

The POF Minuteman 556 AR Pistol Black (POF part 01801) is the 10.5 inch pistol version of POF-USA’s direct impingement Minuteman. It has a nitride-treated barrel, a 9 inch Renegade M-LOK handguard, a 3.5 pound match-grade trigger and a standard AR pistol buffer tube, and it ships with one 30 round magazine.

POF Minuteman 556 AR Pistol Black Overview

POF keeps the Minuteman’s best features in a compact package: an ambidextrous safety selector, a Strike Eagle ambidextrous charging handle, an anti-tilt buffer tube and POF’s E2 dual extraction chamber. The barrel is 4150 chrome vanadium with 5R rifling and a 1:8 twist, capped with a 3-prong flash hider. POF sums up the idea as everything a respectable AR pistol needs and nothing it doesn’t.

Short Barrel, Real Trade-Offs

A 10.5 inch barrel makes the Minuteman easy to move with in a hallway or vehicle, but 5.56 loses velocity from a short barrel and the muzzle blast is loud and bright, especially indoors. Hearing protection is not optional. For defense, choose loads designed for short barrels and confirm they function and group in your pistol.

Buffer Tube Only

The pistol ships with a plain buffer tube and no brace. Many owners add an arm brace; the ATF’s 2023 brace rule has been vacated in court, but the legal landscape has shifted more than once, so check current federal and state guidance before adding one. Never add a shoulder stock unless you have an approved ATF Form 1 to make a short-barreled rifle.

The Trigger and Controls

The 3.5 pound match-grade trigger breaks cleanly, which matters on a gun this light. Ambidextrous safety and charging handle controls make it easy for left-handed shooters. The 9 inch Renegade handguard has M-LOK slots for a light and a hand stop, and a long top rail for a red dot.

Direct Impingement in a Short Gun

Short DI guns run dirtier and hotter than rifles, because gas pressure at the port is higher. POF’s E2 chamber helps extraction, but you should still keep the bolt carrier well lubricated and clean it more often than you would a 16 inch rifle. Suppressor users will notice extra gas at the charging handle.

Who Should Look Elsewhere

If you live in a state that limits AR pistols or requires a long permit process for handguns, a 16 inch rifle may be simpler to own. If you mainly want maximum velocity and range, a rifle-length barrel does that better. The Minuteman pistol is about compact handling first.

State Laws and Ownership

AR-style pistols are banned or heavily restricted in California, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Illinois and Washington, and some states require a handgun purchase permit or license before any pistol purchase. Pennsylvania buyers go through the PICS check at the dealer. The ATF’s 2023 pistol brace rule was vacated by a federal court in 2024, but this pistol ships with a bare buffer tube. Adding a shoulder stock makes it a short-barreled rifle, and adding a vertical foregrip can make it an “any other weapon”; both are NFA items that need an approved ATF form first.
