Description
The PMC X-Tac Match 223 Rem 77gr OTM load, item 223XM, is a 20 round box of 223 Remington ammunition from PMC, loaded with a 77 grain OTM bullet rated at 2420 fps from a 16 inch barrel with 1002 ft-lbs of muzzle energy.
PMC X-Tac Match 223 Rem 77gr OTM Overview
PMC X-Tac Match brings match-grade bullets to the X-Tac line. Open tip match bullets with a high ballistic coefficient hold velocity well and resist wind drift, which makes these loads a good fit for precision shooting, long-range practice and competition at a lower cost than many premium match loads.
Bullet Design
The open tip match bullet is built for accuracy, with a sleek shape and a high ballistic coefficient. The open tip is a result of how the jacket is formed, not a hunting feature, and it helps produce uniform bullets for consistent groups.
Intended Use
X-Tac Match is built for precision shooting at known and unknown distances. It is a solid choice for working up dope on a new rifle, long-range practice and local matches.
Firearm Compatibility
This ammunition is made for rifles and pistols chambered in 223 Remington, including AR-15 rifles and pistols and bolt-action rifles. It can also be fired in firearms chambered for 5.56 NATO, but 5.56 NATO ammunition should not be fired in a firearm marked only for 223 Remington.
About PMC
PMC, short for Precision Made Cartridges, has built ammunition for decades and is based in Houston, Texas. Its lineup covers practice, training, match and hunting loads for handguns and rifles, with a focus on consistent, dependable performance at a fair price.
Recoil and Shootability
Recoil from the 223 Remington is light in any rifle, which makes it easy to practice with for long sessions and lets shooters see their hits through the scope.
Choosing This Load
X-Tac Match makes sense when accuracy is the priority. Use it to zero a precision rifle, gather data on your rifle at long range, and compete without the cost of hand-assembled match ammunition. Consistent bullets and powder charges help keep groups tight and velocities uniform.
About the Cartridge
The 223 Remington became one of the most popular rifle cartridges in the United States thanks to the AR-15. It is accurate, flat shooting and mild in recoil, which makes it a favorite for target shooting, varmint hunting and training.
Brass Cases
PMC loads its centerfire ammunition in boxer-primed brass cases. Brass extracts reliably, resists corrosion and can be collected and reloaded by handloaders, which adds value to every box you shoot. Collect your fired cases at the range if you reload, and sort them by headstamp and caliber for easy processing later.
Range Safety
Always wear eye and ear protection, confirm the correct ammunition for your firearm before loading, and keep different calibers separated in your range bag. Treat every firearm as loaded, and know your target and what is beyond it.
Practice and Testing
Shoot a few groups with this load to learn where it prints in your firearm, and check function with full and partly loaded magazines. Keeping a consistent supply of the same load makes it easier to track your progress over time.
Storage and Care
Store ammunition in a cool, dry place in its original boxes, away from solvents and lubricants that can contaminate primers. Inspect rounds before loading, and set aside any with dents, loose bullets or corrosion.
