Fast, Flat-Shooting Varmint Load
This load pairs a 70 grain Ballistic Tip Varmint with the 243 Winchester. Light, fast varmint bullets are designed to shoot flat and break up quickly on small targets.
That combination helps with long shots on prairie dogs, groundhogs and coyotes, where small aiming errors can mean a miss.

Varmint Hunting Tips
Use Nosler Ballistic Tip 243 Win 70gr only in firearms chambered for 243 Winchester.
Know your holdovers at 200, 300 and 400 yards before you head out.
Use a rangefinder; misjudged distance is the most common cause of misses on small targets.
Always know what is beyond your target, especially in open country.
Nosler Ballistic Tip 243 Win 70gr ammo is a proven choice for varmint and predator hunters.
Barrel heat
Long strings of shots heat a barrel quickly. Give your rifle time to cool so your groups stay tight through a long day in a prairie dog town.
Wind reading
Light bullets drift more in the wind. Watch grass, dust and mirage to judge the wind before each shot.
Landowner permission
Always get permission before hunting private land, and follow the landowner’s rules about where and when you can shoot.
Tracking your round count
Keeping a simple log of how many rounds you fire helps you plan cleaning, spring replacement and other routine maintenance. It also shows how much ammunition you actually use in a season, which makes it easier to buy the right amount next time.
Matching ammunition to your firearm
Check the caliber marking on your barrel before loading any ammunition, and read your firearm manual for any limits on bullet weight or load type. Using the right cartridge keeps your firearm running reliably and safely.
Reading the box
The box lists the caliber, bullet weight and bullet type. Always match the cartridge to the caliber stamped on your firearm’s barrel or slide, and never fire ammunition that is not specified for your firearm.
About Nosler
Nosler Ballistic Tip 243 Win 70gr comes from Nosler, and the specifications listed here follow the maker’s and our distributor’s published data for this item. Compare loads by bullet weight, bullet type and intended use to find the best fit for your firearm.
Buying the right amount
When you find a load that performs well, buy enough for practice and the full season at once. Ammunition from the same lot tends to perform the same, which keeps your results consistent.
Choosing the right load
Start with the job you need the ammunition to do, whether that is hunting, target shooting or practice. Then match the bullet type to that job: expanding bullets for hunting and defense, match bullets for accuracy work and full metal jacket for practice. Finally, test a few boxes in your own firearm, because every barrel has its preferences.
Safety first
Always treat every firearm as loaded, keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction and keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. Wear eye and ear protection every time you shoot.
Understanding bullet weight
Heavier bullets in a given caliber usually leave the muzzle slower but carry momentum well and resist wind drift, while lighter bullets shoot faster and flatter at shorter ranges. Neither is better in every case; the right choice depends on the game, the distance and your firearm.
