Description
The North American Arms Sentinel 22 WMR is NAA’s answer to the biggest complaint about mini revolvers: slow reloads. It blends the square-profile barrel of the Pug with the swing-out cylinder of the Sidewinder, in a five-shot .22 Magnum built from 17-4 stainless steel.

North American Arms Sentinel 22 WMR Overview
Introduced in 2024 and sold as the NAA-SNT, the Sentinel has a 1.425 inch square barrel, measures about 4.9 inches long and 2.8 inches tall, and weighs roughly 6.7 ounces according to published reviews. An XS white-dot front sight pairs with a rear notch, and the textured rubber grip is larger than the bird’s head grips on many minis. MSRP at launch was $399 for the magnum-only model; a conversion version with a .22 LR cylinder is sold separately.
The Swing-Out Cylinder
Traditional NAA minis require you to pull the cylinder pin and remove the cylinder to reload. The Sentinel’s cylinder swings out to the side instead, and a large textured ejector rod head helps clear empties. It is still a single-action revolver loaded one round at a time, but the process is noticeably faster and you are much less likely to drop small parts in the dark.

Sights and Grip
The XS dot front sight is one of the best on any mini revolver and is easy to pick up quickly. The pebble-textured rubber grip fills the hand better than wood or pearl panels, which helps control the sharp .22 Magnum report. It is still a small gun, so most shooters will hold it with two or three fingers.
Single Action Operation
Like every NAA mini revolver, it is single action only: you cock the hammer for each shot and the spur trigger drops into place. For carry, NAA provides safety notches between the chambers so the hammer can rest between cartridges rather than on a live rim. Learn the half-cock and rest-notch procedure from the manual before you carry it.

Ammunition and Performance
The magnum-only Sentinel should be fed .22 WMR only. Loads built for short barrels give the best results from a 1.4 inch tube. Rimfire cartridges are inherently less reliable than centerfire rounds, so an occasional dud is normal; in a revolver you simply cock the hammer again to bring a fresh chamber under it. Expect more muzzle flash and noise than the cartridge would produce from a rifle.
Is It a Carry Gun?
The Sentinel is the most carry-friendly NAA mini to date thanks to its sights, grip and faster reloads. It still holds only five rimfire rounds and is single action, so many owners will treat it as a backup or deep-concealment option. Holster selection is still growing; look for pocket holsters cut specifically for the Sentinel.
State Laws and Ownership
Mini revolvers are legal in most states, but a few jurisdictions add their own hurdles. California and Massachusetts only allow sales of models on their approved handgun rosters, and several states require a purchase permit or firearm ID card first. Pennsylvania buyers complete a PICS check at the receiving dealer. Carry rules also differ widely, so confirm your state and local laws, including permit reciprocity, before you carry it.
