Description
The North American Arms Pug Dusk (model NAA-PUG-DUSK) is a limited edition of NAA’s popular Pug, the short, heavy barreled 22 Magnum mini revolver. The frame wears a Dusk PVD finish in a warm copper tone, set against a black Cerakote cylinder and parts, with rubber grips.

Distributors describe it as a run of 1,200 revolvers, serialized DUSK0001 through DUSK1200. Underneath it is a standard Pug: five rounds of 22 WMR, a 1 inch heavy barrel and single action operation. NAA lists the standard Pug at about 4.56 inches long and 6.4 ounces. Some distributor listings describe the front sight as a tritium night sight while others simply say fixed, so check the sight when your revolver arrives if that detail matters to you.
What PVD Means
Physical vapor deposition bonds a very thin, hard metallic layer to the steel in a vacuum chamber. It is tougher than most paints and resists scratches well, though sharp impacts can still mark it. Clean it with a soft cloth and standard gun oil; avoid abrasive polishes, which can wear through the color.
The Pug Design
The Pug was designed for carry. Its 1 inch heavy barrel and larger front sight make it easier to aim than NAA’s pencil-barrel snubs, and the rounded grip is easy to draw from a pocket holster. It is the shortest 22 Magnum in the NAA line, so it gives up the most velocity, and the muzzle flash is pronounced.
A Limited Edition
Only 1,200 were planned, which makes this a collectible as well as a working gun. If you buy it to collect, keep the box and paperwork and store it in a dry place. If you buy it to carry, expect holster wear on the finish over time, which is the trade-off for using a special edition.
Loading and Carrying
Loading is the same as any NAA mini: pull the base pin, remove the cylinder, load five rounds and reassemble. Lower the hammer into a safety notch between chambers. The spur trigger has no guard, so use a pocket holster made for 1 inch NAA revolvers that covers the trigger completely.
Ammunition Notes
22 Magnum is loud and flashy from a 1 inch barrel, and velocities fall well below box figures. It also costs more than 22 LR and supply can be spotty. Test a few brands for reliable ignition and pick the one that groups best at 5 to 7 yards before carrying it.

Some states require a permit to purchase a handgun, others keep rosters of approved models that may not include NAA mini revolvers, and a few cities ban carry in places that surrounding areas allow.
