Description
The North American Arms Orchid 22 LR is NAA’s classic 1-1/8 inch Long Rifle mini revolver finished in deep violet Cerakote with simulated white pearl grips. At 4.6 ounces and four inches long, it is one of the smallest and lightest revolvers you can buy.

North American Arms Orchid 22 LR Overview
NAA lists this model as the 22LR-Orchid. Under the color it is the same small-frame Long Rifle mini NAA has built for decades: five chambers, a 1-1/8 inch barrel, half-moon front sight and stainless steel construction. The Cerakote covers the frame and barrel while the cylinder stays bright stainless, so the gun has a two-tone look. The store listing describes it as stainless; that is accurate for the underlying metal, but the visible frame color is purple.
Small Frame, Light Recoil
The Long Rifle frame is smaller than NAA’s magnum frame, measuring 2.38 inches tall and 0.88 inch wide. Low recoil is a given with .22 LR, and ammunition is inexpensive and easy to find, so you can afford to practice regularly. That matters, because a gun this small takes practice to shoot well.

Cerakote Finish
Cerakote is a ceramic-based coating that resists scratches, sweat and solvents better than paint. It is still a coating, so expect some holster wear at sharp edges over years of carry. Clean it with ordinary gun solvents and a soft cloth; avoid abrasive pads.
Single Action Operation
Like every NAA mini revolver, it is single action only: you cock the hammer for each shot and the spur trigger drops into place. For carry, NAA provides safety notches between the chambers so the hammer can rest between cartridges rather than on a live rim. Learn the half-cock and rest-notch procedure from the manual before you carry it. The Orchid has no conversion option, so it fires .22 LR only; never attempt to load .22 Short or Magnum cartridges unless the manual specifically allows them.

Honest Limits
A .22 LR from a one-inch barrel is the least powerful option in the NAA lineup. Treat the Orchid as a highly concealable backup or a fun companion gun rather than a primary defensive choice. Rimfire cartridges are inherently less reliable than centerfire rounds, so an occasional dud is normal; in a revolver you simply cock the hammer again to bring a fresh chamber under it. Reloading is slow because the cylinder must be removed.
Carrying It
Use a pocket holster that covers the spur trigger, or pair it with NAA’s matching folding holster grip, which is available as a separate model. Because it weighs under five ounces, it will not drag a pocket or waistband down the way steel-framed guns do.
State Laws and Ownership
Mini revolvers are legal in most states, but a few jurisdictions add their own hurdles. California and Massachusetts only allow sales of models on their approved handgun rosters, and several states require a purchase permit or firearm ID card first. Pennsylvania buyers complete a PICS check at the receiving dealer. Carry rules also differ widely, so confirm your state and local laws, including permit reciprocity, before you carry it.
