The idea behind the USS is simple: use the magnified scope for mid-range shots and the red dot on top for fast close-range shots, without changing optics. The scope reticle is illuminated in blue or green with multiple brightness settings, and the elevation turret includes a bullet drop compensator calibrated for 55 grain M193 FMJ ammunition from 100 to 500 yards. The Micro Red Dot
The included DDAB micro reflex sight mounts on top of the scope, attached at the ocular housing, and has its own on and off switch. Because it sits above the scope, you need to lift your head slightly to use it, which is normal for this kind of piggyback setup. It shines at short ranges where magnification slows you down, such as close targets on a 3-gun style course or quick shots inside 50 yards.
Mount and Height
The auto-locking quick-release mount clamps to a Picatinny rail and uses a compact lever. NcStar raises the scope centerline to the common 1.5 inch AR-15 height, so most shooters get a comfortable head position on a flat-top upper with a standard collapsible stock. A BDC only works as well as the match between its calibration and your ammunition. This one is set for 55 grain M193 loads, which are among the most common 5.56 NATO cartridges. Zero at 100 yards first, then confirm each turret setting at actual distance; barrel length, elevation and temperature all shift where bullets land.

Mount the scope far enough forward that you see a full sight picture with your head in a natural position on the stock. Level the reticle before tightening the mount lever, and check that the quick-release locks firmly. Zero the red dot at 25 or 50 yards for close work, separately from the scope zero.

Honest Limitations
This is an entry-level optic. Glass clarity, turret precision and long-term durability will not match premium scopes costing several times more.
