Mossberg Patriot LR Hunter Creedmoor Overview
The Mossberg Patriot is a bolt-action hunting rifle known for accuracy and value. It features the user-adjustable Lightning Bolt Action trigger, a spiral-fluted bolt, a fluted barrel on most models, and a detachable box magazine.
Design and Features
Patriot rifles come in synthetic, walnut, laminate, and Cerakote configurations, and the receiver is ready for scope bases or comes with a Picatinny rail on Predator and LR Hunter models.
Handling in the Field
This Mossberg rifle is lightweight and well balanced, carrying easily on long hunts while delivering the accuracy needed for clean, ethical shots.
Action and Trigger
The Lightning Bolt Action trigger is user adjustable for a crisp, clean break, and the bolt cycles smoothly from shot to shot.
Sights and Optics
Mount the optic of your choice with quality rings or a mount, and zero it with the load you plan to use.
The 6.5 Creedmoor Cartridge
The 6.5 Creedmoor is known for long-range accuracy, a flat trajectory, and modest recoil, with plenty of energy for deer-size game.
Setup and Accessories
Start with a quality optic and solid rings or a mount, then add a sling for carrying and a bipod or shooting bag for steady rests. Test a few loads for accuracy and settle on the one your rifle likes best. A hard case protects your investment on the way to the range or the field.
Ownership Tips
Read the owner’s manual fully before your first range trip, and keep the manual, box, and receipt with your records for warranty service and resale. Unload the rifle and confirm it is empty before cleaning. Field-strip it according to the owner’s manual, scrub the bore with a brush and patches, and wipe carbon from the bolt face and chamber. Apply a light coat of quality gun oil to the contact points, and wipe the exterior with a lightly oiled cloth before storage.
