The 590 is the heavier-duty sibling of the Model 500, with an 8-round magazine tube for 8+1 capacity with 2 3/4 inch shells, dual extractors, twin action bars and an anti-jam elevator. The top-tang safety is ambidextrous and easy to reach. The 20 inch cylinder bore barrel has a bead front sight and handles buckshot, slugs and birdshot, with a 3 inch chamber. The receiver is drilled and tapped for an optic mount, and the walnut furniture with a chrome finish gives it a look unlike any other defensive pump.
Sling swivel studs and a recoil pad are included, and overall length is about 41 inches.
