Description
The Magpul DAKA Takeout Large FDE is a welded, water resistant gear bag that holds 8.88 litres and opens wide enough to actually find what is inside. Magpul built it from the same polymer infused fabric used across the DAKA line, and there is not a stitched seam anywhere in the body.
Magpul DAKA Takeout Large FDE Construction and Materials
The body is a reinforced polymer infused fabric with an anti slip texture, joined by RF welding rather than sewing. Welded seams are permanent and impermeable, which is the whole point. A stitched bag leaks through every needle hole, and this one has none to leak through.
The fabric itself is chemical resistant and non hygroscopic, meaning it will not absorb water, sweat or solvent. That matters if the bag lives in a truck bed, a boat or a range cart, and it means the inside stays dry when the outside does not.
Zipper, Buckles and Handles
The closure is an 18.5 inch YKK AquaGuard water repellent zipper, fitted with a paracord pull and heat shrink tubing so you can work it with gloves on. Two quick release side buckles open the ends further, which is what turns a duffel shaped bag into something you can see the bottom of.
Two carry handles sit on top, and the base is reinforced so the bag holds its shape when it is loaded and set down. The handle straps can also be looped around a rail, a rack or a tree branch, which is a small thing until the ground is wet.
