Description

The MAC 2 Tactical 3-Gun 12 Gauge 24in is the longer-barreled version of Military Armament Corporation’s affordable inertia semi-auto. The extra three inches of barrel over the 21-inch model add forward weight and a steadier, more deliberate swing, which many shooters prefer for clay targets, waterfowl blinds and longer field shots.

MAC 2 Tactical 3-Gun 12 Gauge 24in Overview

Like its shorter sibling, the 24-inch MAC 2 runs on an inertia system rather than a gas piston. Recoil energy compresses a spring inside the bolt body, which then unlocks and cycles the gun. That keeps the action cleaner, reduces maintenance, and lets the gun handle a wide spread of loads without adjustment. The black hardcoat receiver, black synthetic stock and fore end, and matte barrel make a no-nonsense package. The gun is built in Turkey and imported by MAC, a company that has carved out a niche selling Benelli-style designs at a fraction of the price.

Why Choose the 24-Inch Barrel

A longer barrel moves the balance point forward. On crossing and incoming targets that extra momentum helps you keep the muzzle moving through the shot instead of stopping, a common cause of misses. The longer sight plane also helps on station shots in sporting clays. The tradeoff is handling in tight spaces: in a 3-gun match with close-in stages or in a vehicle, the 21-inch model is quicker. For a home-defense role, a dedicated 18.5-inch tactical shotgun is a better tool.

Controls and Loading

MAC enlarged and beveled the loading gate so you can stuff shells quickly, and the charging handle and bolt release are oversized. The magazine tube holds three shells plus one in the chamber. That suits hunting and clays, where plug rules often apply anyway, but competitors will want an extension. Much of the Benelli aftermarket fits, and owners routinely add longer tubes and larger bolt buttons, though you should confirm fit with each accessory maker first.

Chokes and Sight

The barrel accepts widely available Mobil-pattern tubes, and the gun ships with flush full, modified and cylinder chokes. A fiber-optic bead sits on the vent rib for quick target pickup. There is no rear sight and the receiver is not drilled for an optic, so this is a shotgun for pointing, not aiming, and slug accuracy is limited to modest ranges.

Recoil and Reliability

Inertia guns cycle reliably across a wide range of loads once they are broken in, but they do not soften recoil the way a gas gun does. The 24-inch barrel helps a little by adding weight up front. Run a box or two of full-power loads first, keep the bolt clean and lightly lubricated, and mount the gun firmly; a loose mount can short-cycle any inertia action.

Ownership Costs and Caveats

The MAC 2 is priced well below big-name European inertia guns, and replacement chokes and Benelli-pattern accessories are easy to find. On the other side of the ledger, warranty coverage is only one year, factory support is through an importer, and resale value will not match a Benelli or Beretta. The trigger is heavy at around seven pounds out of the box.

State Laws and Ownership

Most states treat a sporting semi-automatic shotgun like this one as an ordinary long gun, and Pennsylvania buyers clear a PICS check at the receiving dealer. Some jurisdictions restrict semi-auto shotguns by features or capacity, and federal migratory bird rules limit hunters to three shells total, so keep a plug handy for duck and goose season. Always confirm your state and local requirements before ordering.
