Description
The MAC 1014 Marine Nickel 12 Gauge shotgun is the Military Armament Corp 1014 Marine Pistol Grip: a gas-operated semi-auto 12 gauge with an electroless marine nickel finish on the receiver, barrel and magazine tube, a fixed black synthetic pistol-grip stock, an 18.5 inch barrel and a 5-round tube.

MAC 1014 Marine Nickel 12 Gauge Overview
Built in Turkey and imported by SDS Arms, the 1014 copies the layout of the Benelli M4 with a short-stroke, two-piston gas system that drives the bolt directly. The Marine model is aimed at boats, coastal homes and humid climates where blued steel rusts quickly. It has a 3 inch chamber, a chrome-lined barrel with Mobil choke threads and three flush chokes, a ghost ring rear sight, a winged front post and a receiver-mounted Picatinny rail.
Marine Nickel Finish
Electroless nickel covers the metal in a hard, corrosion-resistant layer. It is not stainless steel, so salt and moisture still need wiping off, but it holds up far better than bluing. The bright finish is easy to spot in a safe or vehicle, and can reflect light, which matters little for home defense.

Pistol Grip Synthetic Stock
The fixed synthetic stock has a vertical pistol grip and a thick recoil pad. The grip gives strong control with heavy loads and helps when wearing gloves. It is weatherproof and needs no finish care, which suits the Marine concept.
Gas System and Recoil
The gas system takes some of the recoil impulse and spreads it out, so 3 inch magnum buckshot is manageable. The pistons and ports need cleaning after long sessions. Reviewers found the trigger heavy, close to 8 pounds, with some creep but a short reset.

Sights and Optics
The ghost ring is quick to pick up, and the receiver rail accepts a red dot for faster target acquisition. Pattern your chosen buckshot through each choke before relying on it, since the tubes run tighter than their markings suggest.
Value Tradeoffs
The 1014 offers M4-style features at a much lower price. Parts support and resale value trail the original, so treat it as a working gun and keep spare parts in mind.
Cleaning the Gas System
The two pistons sit under the forend. Remove them periodically, scrape off carbon and clean the gas ports in the barrel collar. Do not oil the pistons heavily, since oil collects fouling. A few minutes of maintenance after a long day at the range keeps the 1014 cycling reliably.
Choosing Home Defense Loads
Gas guns usually cycle reduced-recoil buckshot well, which makes follow-up shots easier. Pattern your chosen load at 7, 15 and 25 yards and pick the choke that keeps pellets on target. Buckshot and slugs can pass through walls, so plan for what lies beyond.
State Laws and Ownership
States with assault-weapon laws may restrict semi-auto shotguns with pistol grips or other features. Check your state and local rules before ordering.
